We made a reservation for Valentine's (7:30). When we were seated, the waitress informed us that there was a "little bit" of a wait for sushi to come out. We had no problem with that. It was Valentine's after all and understandably, most restaurants are more busy than usual. After 1 hour we still had not received our food. The same for many people around us. The restaurant itself was not busy (many empty tables). I asked if it would be possible to bring out even just one roll (as we were starving) and the waitress said she would try. We had a clear view of the sushi bar and waitress never approached the chefs to ask. We continued to wait patiently. When we still had no food after 1.5 hour, I asked why it was that so many take-out orders were leaving (also people entering, putting in their order at front desk, and leaving with an order all while we were still waiting) while we were still waiting. Response: we are busier than usual. There were many empty tables and it was clear that take-out orders were being prioritized (as another customer has commented on in the reviews I see now). You would think that they would come to apologize or offer something to eat while customers wait for 1.5 hour for their food. No such thing! After 1 hour and 40 minutes waiting (!!), we finally were served. But what they served was very disappointing. We have been coming to this restaurant or ordering take-out order for 3 years. We always have been extremely pleased by the quality of the sushi. What we were served was unacceptable! Incredibly tiny pieces of sushi (about 1/2 the size of what they usually are). I wish we had taken a picture so that I could post it with this review. We went home hungry and very...
Read moreDinner at Masamoto was suggested by a friend, so you're getting a twofer review. If you love sushi how can you go wrong?
We went with another couple on a Wednesday night. (Now you're up to 5 people recommending this place-bonus!) The place is small, so we made reservations. Sadly, we were the only customers when we arrived. I was a little concerned, but once rush hour died down the place got busy. The kitchen was hopping, creating table and take out orders. And for good reason.
We ordered a bunch of sushi rolls. They all looked amazing when brought to the table. There's no point in telling you which rolls we order, because they were all great and the menu has so many choices. And they will even make you gluten-free rolls and fried rice if you ask.
You don't go to Masamoto if you don't like sushi, so go and enjoy some wonderful creations.
It's usually true what they say about cozy hole in the wall restaurants. Masamoto is such a place, and deserves to be packed every night. If you want Asian flair and the extra costs for decorations and loud music - good for you, but you're missing out. Masamoto is a mom-n-pop type place with great food and a fantastic staff. They are helpful and happy to take care of you. For me, a genuinely cheery staff is what makes a place feel welcoming.
Masamoto is a place you go for the food and the company. Make some time and treat yourself. Oh, and bring your favorite saki, wine, or bubbly. They are BYOB. Your belly and your wallet will...
Read moreI go to the nail shop next door and patronized this place twice just to make sure I wasn’t over thinking the service as a woman of color ( plus the food is pretty good) and thought I must have caught them on a bad day as I own a restaurant and know the ups and downs of the industry. Both times I placed a take out order in person and the female hostess was very stand-offish and made me feel as though i wasn’t welcomed. The first time I inquired about a particular item on the menu and her response was “ we don’t have that” and when i inquired about another item she responded “ it will take long about 15 minutes” as if she wanted me to leave and say forget it. I placed my order anyways and she said “ok come back in 15 minutes” and when I said I would wait in the waiting area she seemed annoyed. I went back a couple of weeks later and contemplated on dining in but it was the same hostess and similar attitude so I just placed a small order and left to wait in my car and actually watched YouTube videos on how to make my own sushi at home (I really enjoy sushi) and this Isnt the first Asian restaurant where I have had similar experiences. Despite how delicious their food is I won’t be visiting this...
