Food was hit or miss. Service wasn't very good. If you order anything other than tea you get one can of soda and then you have to pay for others. You can't substitute anything with your meal so even if you want fried rice you have to order a whole order of fried rice. Was very expensive considering it was basic Chinese food. I used to eat here all the time and haven't been in over a year and was very disappointed to see how far downhill it went. For three basic sweet and sour chicken combos with plain white rice and one Mongolian beef with plain white rice and three Cokes my bill was over $80. The beef was very tough and not flavored well however the sweet and sour chicken was pretty good. Was very disappointed that I couldn't substitute the rice at all or even pay a small upgrade fee.
UPDATE TO OWNER RESPONSE : Obviously your math skills are not very good. I said three sweet and sour meals at $15 each plus the Mongolian beef at $17 plus four can Cokes at two dollars each plus tax comes to roughly $80. Second of all I will admit I've only ever eaten lunch there not ever dinner this was my first time at dinner. Second of all I know you couldn't substitute and it's been like that but I was merely letting people know that who have never been. The fact that you haven't allowed substitutions for your rice or you don't give refills doesn't change the fact that's how you operate even if you've been doing this for 28 years. Google reviews are not for people who have been going to a place for 20 years it is for people who have never been. Most people rely on Google reviews to determine whether or not they want to visit the establishment so that's why my review was an honest review and pointed out the areas that first time customers may have a problem with. At the end of the day it was basic Mall Chinese food with a high price tag. I find it funny that you did not touch on the fact that the service wasn't good or that the food was mediocre but you chose to try to attack the rice substitution and then tried to make me look stupid and a liar with the price of the meal not equaling $80 but you didn't really pay attention to what my post said. Have a great day and I wish you all the luck in the future. PS. You should have a more English friendly menu having everything and I'm assuming Cantonese with just a basic title it's kind of hard for people...
Read moreThis restaurant been my favorite place to go for dim sum for more than 15-20years (i been eating here with my family since i was 8-9year old. The owner is alway attentive and nice but this place been going downhills this 3 year and even worst since opening back up from covid. Majority servers seem like never care and mid range 40-50' dimsum cart pushers just alway stand in one spot and dont really care for anything except chatting to each other between the severs (there is one mid range lady sever short hair who been working there for a very long time she can speak two language who alway a great server and try her best everytime). Many time i went there the same lady (alway end up pushing the main course dim sum with meats) having the worst temper alway give you the feeling she dont want to work there. One time she slam down two tripe beef dish onto our table. it splash and spilt the meats juice outside near me and onto my phone. She saw that i wipe away the spilt she cause with the dish but didnt even say sorry or anything and she bought over two tripe without asking how many we want and we told her we only want one thank you she glare at us while take it away, write down the dish onto the paper and walk away like it nothing. I guess to her she was doing us a favor by serving us. I couldnt stand how she just slam the hot dishes down forcefully like that especially when i have my two baby sitting next me. We just end up ordering the foods from their menu and sticking with the food in the menu instead of eating dimsum there because of what happen with the main course cart. my husband and myself dont want to interact with the lady anymore and having another mishap like that. While the older elders dimsum cart pusher is very nice and attentive all the time i alway see them work so hard pushing their cart many rounds around the whole restaurant. It was faster to ask the server to bring you the hot meat dimsum then waiting for the hot meat dim sum to go your way because it will only push for couple step and then stand in one spot for forever. Or really if you want dimsum go early instead of after 1pm. The owner and the son owner is very nice and attentive and try their best in running around and helping to make the dim sum runing smoothly...
Read moreUpdated July 2024 I've been patronizing this restaurant many times over the past 30 years... And it has been a roller-coaster ride of good-average-mediocre good-average-mediocre. Nevertheless, they still serve decent dim-sum. Menu items prices have increased while serving portions-sizes have decreased. The JADED female waitstaff are TERRIBLE (especially the tall skinny surly waitress with the fake smile) - RUDE CONDESCENDING PATRONIZING BAD attitudes - AND they will intentionally screw with your order. The male waitstaff provided better service and are more pleasant to engage with. The owner Ken and his son have lost control of their female waitstaff..... when they are NOT there, these hags provide the worst service. Recently (July 2024), I ordered the Salt and Pepper Calamari (it is always served over a garnish-bed of crispy fried vermicelli noodles and fried flavorful aromatics). Well, the fried noodles were STALE, limp, tasted awful. When I complained to the waitresses, they admitted that the kitchen would only fry a big batch of these noodles in the morning and then the noodles would sit all day-evening - and NOT cooked fresh with every order. This in itself is a health code violation. They claimed that the humidity throughout the day would cause the fried noodles to lose their crispiness. OUTRAGEOUS and preposterous! And DISRESPECTFUL to their customers. Fried food should always be prepared and served FRESH - and should be discarded after an acceptable short time-frame if unused. What kind of restaurant intentionally serves their customers STALE OLD LIMP uncrispy fried vermicelli noodles??? No wonder their business has steadily declined.... At this rate, this restaurant is likely to go out of business in less than 5 years. (I'm being generous) If you encounter issues with your order, don't bother complaining nor bringing them to the staff/owner's attention, they DON'T CARE - and they'll always make excuses to justify their problems. Aside than their weekend Dim-Sums (10am - 3pm), I would not...
