Pretty blown away by the food here. There’s a huge menu with a large variety from which to choose.
I did have some concerns about what was vegan vs vegetarian (because the name is Harmony Vegetarian), but the lady said everything is vegan. I then saw a print out of the ingredients for their desserts, so I’m assuming they get questioned a LOT.
After a good 15 minutes or so, I finally narrowed down my order.
CURRY POCKETS I was expecting curry puffs, a popular Thai snack that I love. This wasn’t that and I believe that’s why I was disappointed. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t what I wanted or expected, and it lacked any standout qualities. Would not order again.
SCALLION PANCAKES Perfect; crispy and savory
FRIED CRUNCHY CHICKEN WITH PEPPER SALT A small appetizer portion was perfect for me. They were tasty little bite sized pieces, peppered with tiny little jalapeño bits.
FRIED SHRIMP You get 6 huge pieces of shrimp! They were delicious. I just needed a legit tartar sauce to accompany them.
STRING BEAN SZECHUAN STYLE Quite delicious. I froze these for 2 weeks, and when I got back to STL, thawed and cooked them, they were even better than before! The flavors really set in!
BASIL FRIED RICE Good but missing something. Maybe garlic? I also froze this dish and it too was better after the seasonings marinated in. I did add some of their chili crisp, and let me tell you: this ain’t no American chili crisp. It is authentic and full of spice! Pour with caution and control!
STIR-FRY NOODLE SINGAPORE STYLE It’s fairly good, but I’ve had better. (Veggie Village in Phoenix, AZ has the best Singapore Noodles in the USA.)
GENERAL TSO CHICKEN A nice portioned entree served with broccoli. Crunchy chicken coated in a tangy-sweet sauce. This is Chef Kenny level vegan Asian cuisine. 10/10 would order again!
CHINESE DONUTS Look - This is the kind of treat that makes vegans like me return and ask, “Are you sure these are vegan??” Because these taste EXACTLY like the non vegan ones I used to eat decades ago. Like, were the OG Chinese donuts accidentally vegan? If not, why not? It taste exactly the same!! I’m questioning my existence at this point! No, but seriously, I was so obsessed with these donuts that I ate half of them in one sitting, in disbelief of eat bite.
Even though I didn’t like some dishes, I absolutely loved everything else. Large portions. Fair prices. Lots of space inside to dine in. Restrooms were clean. Employee was patient and helpful. They’re located in a shopping strip mall complex that houses a multitude of other local Asian-owned businesses, so there’s plenty of parking. I’m not familiar with the ATL area, but I think this is about 20 minutes or so from central Atlanta.
They’re open for the holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, NYE, and New Year’s Day), so be sure to support them and enjoy some of the best vegan...
Read moreI've been eating here over the decades since when they were on Roswell Rd. I have had great meals over the years but this past week was not up to their standards. I walked into the restaurant and wanted to place a to go order. The older female was not friendly and not tolerant of questions asked about certain dishes. When I walked in, she asked if I called, which I had not. I ordered hot and sour soup which I have ordered many times. I also ordered the spring rolls. It was about a 15 min wait. The spring rolls are made with only shredded cabbage, were very hot, almost to the point of not being able to hold them. Now, if these were just fried, maybe. But they were not that good. I drove down the street and shopped at another store. By this time the hot and sour soup was sitting in my car for over 15 mins. When I got into the car, the soup container was next to me and the plastic was so mottled that it was melted. So when I moved the container it spilled all over my seat. I tried to clean it up and it was soooo hot that I burned my fingers trying to clean it up. Now, first of all no soup should be over 212 degrees after 15 mins sitting and if they are microwaving the hell out of this is it's container, then we have bigger issues here. The plastic leaching into the extremely hot soup is already bad for you. On top of that, the soup is so full of cornstarch that it is so thick and sticky, which was never the case in previous years. I know it's been a hard year for restaurants, but I won't be ordering again from Harmony. Before writing this review I called them and asked to speak with the manager whose name is Michael. They said he wasn't there and didn't know when he...
Read moreAmazing food! My husband and I have wanted to try this place for years but normally go for Szechuan food when we go to Buford Hwy but we wanted to try something new for our 2 year wedding anniversary. We were both really glad we went to Harmony. Being Vegan and having a huge menu to choose from is super exciting! For apps we got the Shanghai steamed dumplings and the curried pockets. Both dishes were yummy. The curried pockets are not heavily spiced like indian, they are very mild and come on a bed of cabbage with a dipping sauce (like vegan garlic duck sauce) which was nice. The dumplings were also mild and came with a nice sauce. Totally worth trying! The highlights were for sure the Singapore noodles and Sesame “chicken”. This place has so many mock meats that if you go here I recommend trying a few, as opposed to just a veggie dish. The Singapore noodles had mock shrimp which were the best I’ve ever had. The texture was on point and tasted amazing! The sesame chicken was sweet and crispy on the outside. It was the best sesame chicken I’ve ever had! I highly recommended this restaurant. Next time we will skip the apps and get three entrees.
**went again, had Mongolian Beef, beef with bean curd chow ho fun, and general tao’s chicken. All very good! The sesame chicken was better then...
