Food is always great here. Love the pho, banh mi, springs rolls, and boba tea or any other dishes. Service is good, typical pho restaurant: you order, you get your food, eat and pay but past Saturday was a completely new experience for me. After our meal, I ordered the strawberry surf smoothie with boba and my SO ordered the taro with boba. The boba was super hard not chewy and addressed it to the sever but with an attitude he kept telling me that boba was supposed to be hard and supposed to taste like that. Why was I getting gaslight over hard boba? I asked him if they can make a new smoothie with chewy boba. He said no, he can’t make a new one but he can put our smoothie with new boba. We were 100% ok with that, he turns around and walks away few steps, comes back and says it’s the same batch so the boba is going to be the same. I told him it needs to be cooked longer. He didn’t listen and kept saying it’s the same and says he will just take out the boba. I told him, I don’t want the smoothies without boba and if that’s the case, I don’t want it anymore. He looks at me with full irritation, scoffs, shakes the two boba smoothies in my face and says but we already made it. At this point, idk what he wants me to do? We have a 2.5 sec stare off in silence and until he finally says with full on irritation, I’ll take it off! Storms off and throws the boba in the trash can with a lot of passion.
Other than this experience, I like pho bac and their food. I think this was a one-off experience as for the 14 years I’ve ate here, I never had this...
Read moreSolid Vietnamese food and good service.
I'm here a couple of times a year. It's a big, dining area with some booths but mostly simple tables with office chairs. It has a fairly extensive menu of Vietnamese dishes. This place is one of the Vietnamese standards that has been around for quite a few years.
The service here is quick and polite but not chatty. Often, at some point the floor manager comes over and checks on me.
Vietnamese restaurants can be pretty bare bones, but this one has nicer dishes and dressier presentations of their food.
I had com dac biet, a rice dish with some pickled vegetables and a protein of your choice. This day I had charred shrimp and shredded pork. (#24 on the menu) Often, in other Vietnamese restaurants, this is served in a big bowl and people tend to dump the fish sauce over the entire thing. However, here, this comes out on a big plate with separated items.
Also, I had some shrimp and pork rolls in rice paper. And they were okay but didn't have that sort of fresh edge that many of the Vietnamese places have.
This is a great place for a quick lunch with table service or a very casual dinner. My lunch was a little over $20 before tip. I wouldn't take a date here until I was very comfortable in the relationship, or I felt like we were just having an adventurous...
Read moreThis was my third time at this restaurant and my second time finding hair in the food. I think the food is spectacular and very well worth the price. The issue is the service, 2 out of 3 visits it was good! My partner and I both got pho with beef tendon, which can have hairs in it. But my partners pho had three hairs in it, two of those being within the beef tendon and one being what honestly looked like an eyelash. At our previous visit, we found what honestly was a LONG strand of hair in his food. Now when I brought this up to the lady at the cash register, she was immediately a bit standoffish. I couldn’t even finish what I was trying to say because it was a quick defense. I understood that the beef tendon would bring some stray hairs I get that. But my beef tendon had none. And the alleged eyelash was not lodged in the beef tendon it was floating in the broth. I also explained that we had also found a longer strand of hair previous, all she said was yes that was a hair sorry. I could see that the chefs in the kitchen weren’t wearing any kind of hairnet situation. Maybe she thought I was trying to work my way into a refund, I wasn’t. We enjoyed the food alot actually but I think you would benefit from...
