I noticed this Thai restaurant when I visited Mamak last week and checked the reviews and discovered it was fairly new so I was pretty excited when my sis said she was in the mood for Thai food tonight. We arrived one hour before closing and it was only a few people inside. We were promptly greeted and asked if the table was okay since it was next to other diners. We sat down and couldn’t stop admiring the décor, the restaurant is tastefully decorated and the leaning Buddha reminded me of my visit to Thailand. I love dining with friends and family that enjoy sharing dishes, my sis and I decided to order a few items and share.
Our waitress Amy came over within a few minutes of us sitting and brought water over and introduced herself, she was a sweetheart, very helpful, friendly, and had a good sense of humor. She provided several recommendations for starters and entrees which was much appreciated and even helped us with our boomerang toast. LOL. Service was excellent!
Now to the good stuff..AKA food! Fresh Basil Rolls with shrimp no pork served with plum sauce $5 – very fresh and light, the plum sauce was perfect. Crispy Squid $8 – generous portion of calamari lightly breaded, it sort of reminded me of tempura shrimp/veggie appetizer at Japanese restaurants, it has a very different taste and the calamari was fresh and cooked to perfection. Papaya Salad $8 – this is a must for an appetizer, very flavorful and the ingredients were very fresh, no stale or wilted veggies here…perfect spicy level. Shrimp Curry $12 – this dish had two pepper symbols on the menu so I was expecting for it to have some spice. Although it was very good curry it had no spice to it so I would increase the level if I order again. This dish is a green Thai curry sauce served with bell peppers, green beans, basil leaves, cabbage and zucchini, you also get a side of rice Drunken Noodles $10 – my favorite and go to dish at any Thai restaurant, I thought the noodles were very good and enjoyed the taste but like the shrimp curry, I needed a little more spice. Thai Milk Tea and Thai Ice Tea with lime, each drink was $3.50 and very good!
As you can see, the prices are very affordable for a Thai restaurant in the city. Excellent food, great service, free parking, open dining area= 5 stars! Tell you friends and visit today.
Need to know – they don’t have their liquor license at this time and no outdoor dining, although they have the perfect...
Read moreThere is parking by the restaurant, however, can get packed especially on the weekend. This is close to the Buford city market shopping plaza.
Inside is spacious and the staff were all wearing masks. Tables are decently spaced apart.
Because the restaurant is still kind of new, I believe they are waiting on their alcohol permit. It looks like there will be a full bar from the way it’s set up.
Satay beef: tender and flavorful.
Fried chicken: very crispy but two pieces were literally just the fried dough, no chicken inside.
Papaya salad: was delicious and refreshing. Perfectly offsets the more heavy flavors. Slightly spicy.
Potstickers: lacked in flavor and wasn’t very hot when it arrived at the table. The red sauce was nice but I feel like it doesn’t go with the potstickers. Wouldn’t order it again.
Spicy seafood soup: was delicious!! Slightly spicy. Had a good amount of seafood inside.
Crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli: flavorful, but the pork was a bit too crispy for my liking.
Spicy crispy catfish: tasted good, nice crisp to it but fish was still nice and soft on the inside. Not spicy at all in my opinion.
Drunken noodles: delicious with a nice amount of spicy level to it.
Also came with a big container of rice for us to share.
Not pictured, but the iced coffee was...
Read moreSuch a shame. The kitchen manager has a attitude. I was a long-time customer of Surina's brothers restaurant in Virginia Highlands and I've been a customer since she has been opened in Chamblee. Not sure but I think she owns the whole shopping center. I go get my nails done there. I go to the vegan restaurant. I go to her restaurant and then I also go get massages. And this rude kitchen manager told me I cannot come there and order tofu basil rolls without lettuce in there ever again. He also told me I needed to go eat somewhere else. I have never in my life had some one be so rude and deny a simple request not to put lettuce in basil rolls which is ridiculous. So I will never eat there again. So I hope that Surina is well aware that he is running off customers with that attitude. Total jerk. I'm actually taking that back in there and asking for a refund. I do not trust this man. He probably rolled them around on the floor in the kitchen and spit on them. I am really pissed about this...
