Pia's Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Champaign

In 2021, I was paying $70,000 a year for a library at Carle Illinois College of Medicine I could not use due to COVID precautions, so I started studying at Pias during the day on occasion. While I was not welcome at the U of I, I was welcome at Pias. I share this now as someone no longer attending UIUC.

Pias did more for my medical doctorate than Carle/UIUC did during those times. Great people, good food, and good prices can get you through tough times.

From the outside, this place looks like it is on the verge of going out of business and the inside was not much better. From the musty smell to the dirty, unsanitary and unkept conditions, we had one drink, which was served to us in a plastic cup, and left.

The management of the restaurant on duty was openly and shockingly antagonistic to a majority of patrons, much to the embarrassment of staff, who were apologetic and helpful, trying to make the best of a bad situation.

Went to Pias which is normally fine. Not today. After 15 minutes of waiting.. My burger was red and my onion rings were burnt. When my waitress came by 15 minutes later to ask how it was and bring the bill I pointed to the food and politely told her it was undercooked. She snatched the bill off the table and rudely stated "we'll I guess you dont got to pay for it then." She then went to the back and told the cook something and the cook started throwing a fit and laughing at us. Nasty food....
