Food is pretty good but not kid friendly.
Our family visited last night. The wait staff was friendly and nice. The Siam fried rice had nice flavor also. The volcano roll was ok. Our waitress asked if we were ok with it being spicy, warning us, but it lacked any spice at all. It was still good quality, but I was disappointed in the overall taste. Definitely is not as good as other options in C-U. The Pad Thai also was mild in flavor. No spice and weak peanut sauce. I’m not sure if it not enough on the noodles or it’s their recipe. Either way it was a bit disappointing, although it was cooked well. Again, it just lacked something.
As a family with a 2 year old, we visited after reading an article from a local Mom’s group that specified this location had a children’s menu. Otherwise, we usually don’t go to a Thai restaurant as a family since spending a lot on a toddler that spills most of his food or eats very little isn’t ideal. Not the fault of the restaurant that the review gave misinformation, but other patrons should know this location is not kid friendly. They do not have changing stations, no highchairs, and no kids menu. (Although, the Siam fried rice was a success for our toddler. It did cost $12)
My personal favorite Thai dish is green curry. I did not order it this time to keep our bill within budget, but I will come back again to see if they can do it justice... without our...
Read moreI visited Sushi Siam and ordered a fried rice dish that tasted great, but unfortunately, some of the shrimp were clearly undercooked. They were still translucent and had a sticky texture. When I first raised this issue, the server insisted that the shrimp were fully cooked. However, when I compared the cooked shrimp with the undercooked ones, she acknowledged the issue and kindly offered to refund the dish. To avoid wasting food, we then ate the rice and left the shrimp.
I thought the situation was resolved amicably, but for the rest of our meal, we could clearly see the server and her colleagues pointing at us from the bar and making dismissive gestures as they walked past. Although I didn’t want to overthink it, both my companion and I felt disrespected and mocked. If the refund was something you weren’t comfortable offering, further discussion would have been preferable rather than displaying such behavior afterward.
I used to be a loyal customer of this restaurant and often recommended it to friends. However, this experience left me feeling deeply disappointed and uncomfortable. I hope we won’t have any stomach issues from the undercooked food today. I am sharing this feedback in the hope that the restaurant will address this issue, ensuring that no other customer has to deal with such unexpected problems or endure...
Read moreThe portions here are very small relative to the prices. My wife and I typically get two entrees with two drinks (non-alcoholic), and share two appetizers and a sushi roll, and usually end up spending $70 to $90, with no leftovers. We've enjoyed most of what we've ordered, with a few exceptions. The Pad Thai was just OK, the curries are too thin for my liking, and I would avoid the Crying Tiger; it only comes with a small piece of beef and a dipping sauce for $17. It didn't feel like a complete entree. As expensive as the Thai Iced Coffees are ($4.59 each), you should at least get one refill. They're delicious, but they come in tiny glasses filled with ice so you're barely getting any actual drink. I understand eating out is very expensive in this post-COVID economy, but I feel that Sushi Siam goes a bit beyond what's reasonable. Also, their website seems to be an afterthought as the pricing there is outdated from before they raised everything by $1 a...
