If you love the food at the original location in Tornado, WV, you'll probably love it here but you might make a few adjustments to your order or to your expectations for the smoked meats. It seems there's no smoker on site so the smoked items are brought from Tornado and reheated (this is speculation because no employee would confirm or deny) resulting in meats that are drier than expected. They are still very good and better than most places but, on first (and second) visit, it was a disappointment after having the burnt ends from the Tornado location. I did try their hot dog for the first time and the reputation it has as one of the best in WV is well deserved.
The service is friendly but the system of getting the food out could use some tweaking, especially at the busiest times of day. I was sitting at the counter, waiting on my order and, due to how busy the Capitol Market was, I couldn't hear them call my order number over all the noise. I finally asked how much longer it would be and my order had been sitting for almost 15 minutes.
Hopefully, those minor issues will work themselves out as they gain experience in the new location. Also, hopefully they will be able to start cooking all the food on site at some point. Still, this is now one of my go-to...
Read moreBogey's is another mediocre barbecue joint, which is a shame. I've had outstanding meals from them. I very specifically remember a fish and chips special that was outstanding, with fresh battered fish and their great fries. Their seasoned fries are the best thing here by far. When I went to order this special the next time it was available, the fish was horrible (but the fries were still good). The place has a tendency to be inconsistent. Most of the problematic food that gets sent out is overcooked. Overcooked pork, chicken tenders, and fish have hit my plate. It's location is convenient around the Capitol Market. Service can be inconsistent, as food comes out whenever they find the time. I have been here before where staff has fallen behind the number of orders they receive. Finding a place to wait for the food can be tricky as well. It's largest selling point is it's convenience. This is never the reason why I go to the Capitol Market, but it is there if you need...
Read moreWhat a delightful find in the Capitol Market. Just spending a day in Charleston, passing through from Pittsburgh to Asheville, and we were looking for interesting things to see and places to eat. We happened upon this market, which is electic combination of produce and fruit, and inside stores full of various food and other items for sale. This restaurant is inside the building. The fish and chips that I had were top rate. They hand dip their own cod in beer batter and it is delicious. It came with an ample portion of fries. The tartar sauce was also very good and malt vinegar was available. My wife had a hot dog which she really liked - it was a Nathan's - and It came with chips. Seating was also okay. It was a nice and...
