I was passing through and decided to come here based off some recommendations that I had seen.
We got there around 12 pm and it was already crowded. We were told the food would take 40 minutes. I mentioned that I tried to order online but it said closed and she stated yea, because they’re busy so they don’t have time to open online orders.
There is a small area to sit in to eat but we decided to get it to go since it would take so long. We went for a walk and came back 45 minutes later. Food still not ready. We got the food roughly 65 minutes after ordering.
Now, I ordered chicken drunken noodles (pad kee mao) and my husband got steak. We got Shrimp tom yum soup as well. My husband seemed to really enjoy his drunken noodles but mine did not taste the same. The sauce was kind of on the bottom and not really on the noodle. I don’t know if it’s because I got chicken but it wasn’t flavorful. It wasn’t bad. The ingredients seemed pretty fresh so I appreciated that. My husband’s was much tastier! His sauce was thicker and I just think even though we ordered the same thing, they came out differently. The soup was really good but it was pretty heavy on the fish sauce. So if you order it, you will taste the fish sauce. It was still good though.
The Thai sweet tea was also delicious. I want to give this a 3.5 star.
For the 2 sweet tea, soup, and noodles, it was over $50. So if you’re looking for a cheap lunch, this is not the place to go. The portion size was pretty good! The soup was much more...
Read moreMy wife and I were visiting out of town, staying downtown and looking for someplace different to eat. Found Chow Thai on Google maps. The reviews said it was small with good food and friendly staff so we decided to give it a try even though we had never eaten Thai before. First, the food was delicious. This was our first meal with Thai food but it will not be our last! Second, the staff was very friendly. They helped us pick a safe choice for our first experience with Thai food. The medium spice was perfect for me. Just enough to be slightly uncomfortable but not enough to overpower the taste of the food. My wife had mild spice and she said that was good as there was enough spice to be noticed but not enough to be uncomfortable. Third, the place was small but certainly not uncomfortably or claustrophobically small. It was very clean. My only complaint would be that the place was difficult to find. It is in the back of the building and cannot be seen or directly accessed from the street listed as its address. One has to turn into the parking lot beside the building then drive around back. A sign on the street would probably increase business substantially. Overall, it was a very positive experience and my wife and I are looking forward to trying new...
Read moreLet me just first say- I have extremely high expectations when it comes to Asian food bc I come from a Southeast Asian decent, so the fact that Chow Thai blew me away- speaks volumes! The menu offered an extensive selection of authentic Thai dishes, each prepared with the freshest ingredients and bursting with flavors. The Pad Thai was hands down the best I've ever had - the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and savory. The Green Curry was equally impressive, with a rich and fragrant coconut base that complemented the tender chicken and fresh vegetables perfectly. The presentation of each dish was a feast for the eyes, showcasing the chef's artistic flair. The portion sizes were extremely generous, ensuring that every bite was a delight! I would highly recommend this Thai restaurant to anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience. Whether you're a Thai cuisine enthusiast or simply looking to explore new flavors, this restaurant is a true gem. Prepare to be transported to Thailand with every bite and indulge in the culinary delights this establishment...
