My girl and I were so excited that James Island had a new and long hoped for wing spot on James Island. We looked at the reviews beforehand and saw that people were loving it. After today, we were left wondering if they were all paid or family members because that was a wild waste of money and time. We bought 50 dollars worth of food, thinking that we were getting forty boneless wings, Mac and cheese, and fries. What we got was a thirty minute wait, a to-go bag despite electing to dine in (without silverware), and the most disappointing food we have ever had. The fries were your standard cafeteria fries with a splash of seasoning for color. The Mac and cheese was likely Panera store bought because we couldn’t tell the difference. The wings I saved for last because, my god, they were killed twice—so dang dry it was like bubble gum and the size was laughably small. For twenty wings, it was maybe one chicken breast. The seasoning was super heavy on some of the niblets, and then none on the others. The one good thing about the place was the music at least was good while we waited the thirty minutes…and four ranch cups is nice to add in to the meal—just wish we didn’t need every last drop of them to stomach the overcooked meat. Never going back…ew

This is the Newest spot on James Island, Came here while family was in town visiting. This location just opened so they are still working things out but they couldn't have been any more upfront and friendly. They didn’t yet have any tea and no salt/pepper on the tables or napkin dispensers. The food was all delicious. Very simple menu which is easy to read and order from. I got the double smash burger but those were more like full size patties not smash burger patties. I could have just gotten 1 if I had known the patties were that big. The mac n cheese was delicious. My aunt got 10 piece all Drum Hot wings which has a $2 up charge if you get all the same instead of mixed. The onion rings were delicious as well. They have Pepsi fountain drinks which is refreshing since most places here only carry Coke products. I was kinda unsure what to do when we finished eating. They have a trash can in the corner and looks like you would self clean your table but no where to put the drink cups so we cleaned our trays into the garbage but left our cups sit on the table. We both loved the food and will definitely be back again! I hope this place has much success!!

I recently visited Flat and Drum Wings on James Island (807 Folly Road) and ordered six hot dry wings with Cajun fries. They serve Pepsi products from the fountain along with some bottled drinks, but no tea. Ordering is counter-service style with a pager to pick up your food. However, as soon as my pager went off, the young lady at the register kindly brought my food to the table and even checked in on me twice afterward. Honestly, that was better service than I’ve had at some full sit-down restaurants. As for the food, the wings were very flavorful and well-seasoned. The fries were tasty but could’ve been a bit crispier. I went with blue cheese dressing, which was fine but a little thinner than I prefer. Overall, though, I had a really good dining experience. The standout was definitely the customer service—especially impressive for a counter-service spot. I’ll definitely be back to try more of their wing flavors.
