Ike's — Restaurant in Charleston

Leave your mediocrity at the door, peasants. Ike's is responsible for turning central Illinois boys into cultured Renaissance Men. The charming venue itself will give you an immediate sense of déjà vu, to which you will internally say, "This place just feels like home." After slight concern brews as you realize you were talking to yourself for a moment, you will be immediately greeted by the charismatic staff, and an overall exquisite environment.

And the food--Oh Lord, my faithful reader, the food.

I’ve heard “immaculate” used at times, but it would be unfair to pigeon-hole Ike’s savory nourishment with one word.

So let me try this: Remember the scene in The Godfather Part II where Vito Corleone (Robert DeNiro) gets his long overdue revenge on Don Ciccio? Remember the satisfaction and gratification you felt as Vito whispered in Don’s ear, and the look Don got on his face as Vito’s words sunk in? Yeah? Do you?

Well double that. Congratulations, you’ve experienced the euphoric sensation of popping your Ike’s burger cherry.

The jalapeno bites/macaroni bites hold their weight as the best thing to ever happen to jalapenos or macaroni, respectively. I know what you’re thinking, “Jalapenos? Those are hot! What happens once I take a bite?” It’s a fair question. Wash that sweet sustenance down with one of the quirky, yet quenching drinks from the Ike’s menu listed conveniently above the main bar. I challenge you to find a more qualified venue to host your next event. After all, this is your well-being we’re talking about; you should strive for nothing short...

There is not enough stars to rate the food. I have spent my entire live in Charleston, and never had I been in Ike's nor had their food. This all changed a few weeks ago. It is a clean, charming, older bar. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The food, I can not brag enough about. Typical of what you would think of as "bar food"... burgers, sandwiches, nice selection of appetizers, fries, onion rings, jalapeno poppers. BUT, the food is anything but typical. It is absolutely amazing! We were extremely impressed, and pleasantly surprised. My favorites are the thick cut and perfectly golden, onion rings. I like to dip them in Ike's beer cheese dip. The Ike's Bourbon Burger is literally one of the top 2 burgers that I have every ate. Perfectly grilled burger with your choice of cheese, bacon, and the most insane bourbon sauce. Thick, smoky, perfect sweet! My husband really likes the inside out grilled cheese w/ a hamburger patty added to it. He favorite is the jalapeno poppers with boom boom sauce. I just can't say enough good thinks...

Probably just dealt with the most uncomfortable feeling ever probably just got mistaken for someone that wasn’t leaving tips when I tip the waitresses plenty and kicked me out of the bar for no reason. I’m highly disappointed because I had a lovely experience another day with a gentleman during the day, but Hannah was a different breed. without seeing or knowing of whatever situation happened, even though I was just simply waiting for a drink and for no reason got hounded at like a guy that wasn’t leaving tips. I’m highly disappointed and won’t be coming back there unless it’s serving them with papers for this girl grabbing me for no reason? I sure hope they have cameras. Let buddy in the blue shirt on 3/19 with a beard know that he was completely wrong and I didn’t even get to buy a drink so how could I even leave a tip? Amazing.
