Been coming to this place for about 17 years now.the food has always been cooked and seasoned perfectly well worth driving out of your way for.never ever had a bad meal here even the one time i was given the wrong food i still wound up loving it.went there today and it seem the owner has given his children complete creative control of his business. After seeing the drastic improvements they have made to this place,he should be a very proud man.throughout the years i have watch his children grow up into young adults.the service here has always been good.although during most of those years the children seemed sort of robotic or bored with the job.although Now that they were given the opportunity to give this place a drastic facelift.their personalities shine, they have glowing smiles and no doubt about it you can tell they truly love what they are doing rather then just holding a job.the renovations are tastefully done and i actually want to eat inside now rather then grabbing quick takeout.the menu has improved as well even though it was already great before hand.most importantly it is really nice to have food served on a nice dish rather then a styrofoam plate..best thing about this place is the fact you could literally order every single item on the menu and it will be done in less then 10 Minutes.....kudos to the owner for letting the children use their creative control,it was definitely the...

From my understanding New York style Chinese food is extremely Americanized in geared towards Americans perspective of Chinese food. I think the family that runs this restaurant is very caring and genuine. The food is always hot, ample, and fresh. I drive from Downtown Charleston to James Island once a month to eat here. I have tried about 5 other similar restaurants all over Charleston and I always come back to Tokyo Express when I am craving New York style Chinese food. Don't believe the...
Read moreOrdered $50 worth of food and expected it to be correct and at least edible. However, my 2 different kinds of chicken (orange and general) were exactly the same dish, chow mein was a soupy mess with no noodles, potsticker/dumplings were filled with what looked like cat food (tasted that way too) and the rice was flavorless and the chicken looked like strips of undercooked fish. I tried calling to have my order at least corrected or simply return the food for my money back but they don't answer the phone and would be closed before I could get there. Very disappointed and I will be trying to call/stop by tomorrow. $50 was too much money for something I wouldn't...
