Rio Chico — Restaurant in Charleston

You know, it's been a really long time since I have gotten so mad at a restaurant. I have a child who is extremely weird about her food. I'm sure it has a lot to do with her disorder, she has ASD, but shes been this way her whole life. We have taugher her how to properly order her to in order to ensure that when she get it, it is correct. She ordered just a tbone steak...the lady started to ask her about the sides... and she stated I want just the steak only and rice.... I asked the lady to go ahead and put the beans on the side.... my daughter got a little upset but we have this rule that you have to try everything so I always make it on the side because she doesn't like her food to really touch. So they bring her food to the table.... it has the tbone on the plate with rice...then there are all these sauteed onions and mushrooms sitting on top of her steak...on top of that there is a bed of lettuce with guacamole spilling over into her rice and tbone with a tomato on top. Now for most people it probably would not be a big deal, but for her it is...and honestly it would not have been a big deal if they had taken it back and fixed it, but when I proceeded to ask the lady to take it back and remove everything and replace the rice, she had the nerve to tell me that I could fix it and she would bring me a plate to put all the stuff she didnt want onit on...she walked away so fast I didnt even have time to respond... I was so mad, not everyone may agree with this but it is my opinion. .y sister in law asked what was wrong and of course I got loud, If it was our mistake I would fix it, but it wasnt, and she was extremely clear. Couldn't be much clearer. I say it was absolute laziness! This was further proved when we received our check, and I placed my card in it and gave it to her, she proceeded to tell me that she had another table to handle and that I needed to take it up front...I'm thinking, is this chick for real??? Its crazy because we told her that we go to Rio Chico in Cane Bay, and that we love it and she was talking bad about that location. I will never go back to this...

Great food, but don’t bother with their ”preferred” online ordering system called Snaptown. We have now used this three times to order for pickup and once for delivery. There have been issues every time, some much worse than others. When we try to talk to the staff about this they are always unhelpful.

The most recent order we tried their preferred for delivery since Rio Chico isn’t on any of the services we normally use but love the food. After almost an hour of “6 minutes” ETA or the order tracker I finally went to the store and got my food. For the first time, the order was right - but again they refused to offer any assistance with the issues. There was no response to any messages or calls through the Snaptown interface. While I was at the restaurant a Door Dash driver showed up to pick up the order - it seems SnapTown just hands the order off to them anyway. Door Dash couldn’t help me because they didn’t take the payment. At the end of the night I had my food but wasted an hour and am out the delivery fees since nobody will refund it.

I wouldn’t leave a bad review on the restaurant for rye failures of a 3rd party service if they didn’t actively promote this as their preferred service, or if they were helpful when there are issues. But they have just been...

The last few times that I've been here I have gotten the taco salad. Both times the taco salad had water in the bottom so it made the crispy tortilla soggy therefore making it like a soup which was not delicious needless to say. I have told several waitresses about a suggestion to make sure to tell the cooks to strain whatever they are putting in the taco salad before it goes in the shell. Obviously the problem hasn't been corrected. Needless to say I will not be getting this if I ever go back there again. Also the chips that come with the salsa were cold and the salsa had a hint of fish flavor which was not tasty at all and completely turned me off. I will say that the Pollo de caldo is really really good every time that I have tried it. I know that you can do better Rio Chico. Step it up please!

You guys obviously did not read my review thoroughly because you all thought that I enjoyed the salsa and chips and what I said was that the chips or cold and the salsa had a hint of fish taste to it. Therefore I did not enjoy it one bit in addition to not enjoying...
