We got to the restaurant and were seated rather quickly. We then sat at our table for an extended period of time without being handed any menus. We could have gotten someone’s attention, but everyone seemed to be distracted/on their phones for the time we were there. We were finally given menus, and then almost immediately had a server come up to take our order. When we relayed that we hadn’t even had time to look because we just got the menus, he seems frustrated. We then finally ordered, with a new server, and I noticed they really try to push certain (more expensive) items. They tried to get us to order something for our children that we didn’t want, and it just seemed very pushy. We get our food, snd everything was pretty good. We definitely have a favorite Indian restaurant in Champaign, and this wasn’t quite as good, but it was good. My husband and I received our food, but realized neither of our kids had gotten their food. It took awhile to get anyone’s attention, and then they finally brought their food out. After eating, we then just sat, and sat, and sat. We were finally able to get the attention of a worker bussing a table, and he had to call out our servers name multiple times to get her attention… and she still didn’t respond. Another table of customers had to get her attention. It just seemed very unprofessional because it was at this same time that a toddler wearing a shirt and a saggy diaper came into the dining room. We then pay, and I am not a fan of their system. I would love to have a paper receipt that I can leave my tip on, instead of the Clover system they carry around and hold while you are supposed to enter your tip. I honestly should have had a bigger back bone and put $0 tip, but felt obligated to leave one because she was holding the machine. We then go to leave, and my youngest daughter is promptly hit in the arm by this random toddler, who then slaps me a couple of times as I am walking out of the door. We were so excited for an Indian restaurant to come to Charleston, but I will be making the trip to Champaign because I’ve never experienced such odd/bad service...
Read moreOur family of four had the best experience today. The food was exceptional. The spice levels were perfect for our differing taste buds. Our pickier youngest son initially did not want to try it and he was so glad he did. He had the mixed grill and loved every bit of the tender, juicy chicken. Our spice lover got the Rogan Josh with lamb hot and the spice was perfect. The lamb was also very tender and flavorful! I had the Hakka Noodles with chicken and mild spice and it had a delicate but delicious flavor. It was not heavy at all. We also tried the naan bread basket and the dipping sauces were phenomenal.
The staff were very friendly and helped us each find something we loved. They kept us in drinks. The chef came out and chatted with us about the food and was very funny. Even the menu was entertaining! You have to check out the kids dishes!
Go there asap! ...
Read moreHi, visited yesterday, July 17th, with my colleagues while on a work trip. We searched for the best restaurants in Charleston, and this place came up. Hands down, one of the best dining experiences we’ve had! The location is perfect, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The chef even came by personally to check on us, which was a really nice touch.
Huge shoutout to our server, Miti. She was absolutely amazing. We watched her effortlessly manage everything, from taking orders to packing multiple takeout meals, even during the busiest time. She took care of every table with such a grace and calm. Her positive energy and her aura made us feel right at home within minutes. Truly outstanding service.
Thank you so much girl, for making us feel...
