Ordered platia delivered. Gyro was pretty solid. No complaints, good blend of flavors and didn’t get soggy despite delivery. Platter was a bit disappointing. The box it’s delivered in is a poor setup with dividers inside it so you can’t mix and blend the flavors. The portions look generous, but this also cost 20+ dollars(!) so, although generous portions I would expect the food to wow me and it was fairly average across the board. Tazitki, hummus, rice, chicken, lamb, Greek salad. The worst part was the rice which was one dooey ball, clearly someone had scraped the bottom of a hot pan and compacted a little ball of rice and plopped it in, nasty. All in, pretty expensive and average. I’d give it another shot in store since the delivery might’ve hurt this review, or just avoid the platter and get some wraps.

I got the Lamb Gyro and the Sea Salt fries with a Mexican Coke and their Mango Lemonade. The food is amazing! I eat here several times a month. It’s a very filling meal, so I’m typically stuffed every time. You get so many fries, you could share them amongst two people as a side. The food is always fresh, and their staff is so nice and hardworking. They keep you updated as your order is working. Plenty of room in the seating area for small or larger sized (6-8) groups to come for lunch or dinner. Not to mention they have games on the table and electrical outlets for your charger if you plan on hanging out for a while. The few times I have gotten delivery it was speedy, well packed, and best of all still hot and fresh.

I travel 20-30 minutes to eat here & there are several great Greek restaurants 5 min from my home. The food is always freshly prepared & the employees are so helpful and sweet! It’s evident they care about their restaurant and customers. When placing an order, staff is helpful & will offer great suggestions to help save money, too! The chicken gyro with fries on top is delicious! Today we tried the kabobs & omg - soooooo freaking good. The salads are filled with FRESH chunky veggies & delicious dressing. The pitas are soft and warm…yum!. Love the smiles, cleanliness, and overall positive vibes I receive when dining at Platia’s! See y’all soon!!

BE MORE TRANSPARENT - Let customers know that this is NOT authentic greek cuisine but your take/twist on it, however that has to be said it needs to be said. While a good a tempt though, I would eat here happily if I DID NOT expect authentic.

First time eating here, my order was thru Door Dash Delivery, as their pictures caught my eye while scrolling. That said, I loved the sealed DD Sticker on the single bag that ensured my food was tamper proof.

LAMB GYRO - I have more fries on my gyro than meat, not to mention two MEAT PATTIES" that I can not confirm are actually lamb. Its blended and possibly frozen or precooked, there was no open grill taste to the [unidentifiable patty meat] typically associated with Greek cuisine, specifically the LAMB. Its usually cut into chunks, almost as if right off of a skewer, unlike the shaven gyro meat or thick slices of chicken gyro.

CLASSIC GREEK SALAD - the style and chop of the veggies were suprising considering this is supposed to be greek, even Zoe's kitchen gets this part right. And that's pretty much a cookie cutter chain restaurant. There was more veggies than salad, huge chunks of tomatoes, one olive lol banana peppers and more than plenty rush chopped cucumbers, they were in big chunks too. The flavors weren't bad but something was definitely missing, a sour taste was missing. My salad was warm and soggy - maybe try a separate bag from hot food since it's already in sealed container. Also seperate the oil vinegar dressing from the salad since its pre prepped and that way I wouldn't have such soggy lettuce. Also these salads usually come with a side of tzatziki or yogurt dressing but there was no option for me to select for mine.

SIDE OF FRIES AND PITA/HUMMUS: A generous serving of side fries and pita. Not much to say about them. The pita was nicely done, fries were soggy from sweating in the box but the flavor was good. The hummus is missing something or it has a bit too much of something else I can't put my finger on it. The texture is okay.

BAKLAVA - is a decent attempt, the ingredients seem less quality though. I'm assuming this one was made with pistachios? And pecans? which is also not specified. This is such a delicate dessert since the star is the filled layer it was a bit disappointing. The good bits were very flaky, the right density and sweetness but the maybe the pecans threw the taste, maybe too much of it?

Would I give it another go? For now I'd say NO, on my quest to find authentic international foods in Charleston. There is a place DT that's come quiet close to greek cuisine I won't mention in this review. And Platia isn't bad, please don't misunderstand my review it's just not authentic greek cuisine. Prices are affordable and decent. They season perfectly if you are looking for flavors that aren't bland. Some of it seems overwhelming and done to compensate for authentic flavor that just aren't coming thru. All in all it was just GOOD - is that...

My wife and I drive more than 20,000 miles a year -- writing a food blog, exploring America's corners -- and all we ever ask is that whoever is serving us try to be as glad to see us as we are to see them. We call it "playing the game"-- as in, making the effort to find common ground between consumer and server. Even faking it. But if you don't like your job, I swear, it seems like there are plenty of others out there in this field right now. Now, in our experience, Charleston is simply one of the top-five friendly towns in the land.I am obviously not alone in this: the town is just flat-out pleasant to be in, whether you're buying a buying a lottery ticket in a barred-window bodega or forking up the serious bucks down on King Street. In fact, right before our visit to this truck, we'd dropped in on a seafood store and weren't surprised to be greeted by, "Hey, how ya doin," as we walked in; within two minutes my wife and one of the staff were treading stories about New York, Ireland and men. We've been here two weeks so far, and literally not once have we not felt welcomed by any establishment -- until today. Maybe the dude was having a bad day. Maybe he'd had surgery that prevented his mouth from forming a smile. Maybe he just really hates his job, and we all know retail can be hell. Especially on a super hot day. But if "He made us feel welcome" was a one to ten, this guy's vibe was a one. Another worker was wandering in and out of the truck, never glanced at us. Was it our masks? Our age? We'll never know,. Meanwhile: The lamb patty in the gyro was sort of lamb-ish, but thick, not thinly sliced, and its taste had clearly been sapped by the way it had been cooked. I'm guessing the chef here knows how to serve the lamb -- up north, the meat is usually thinly sliced -- but no matter the thickness, you have to know how to cook it to maximum effect, no?. The tomato, though was real! (Hence the second star.) But: These were not French fries. They were "Riced-potato sticks deep-fried in oil whose taste lingered way too long" (real French fries are not made up of riced potato meat, which I can only assume they use because it cuts costs by having less potato and more whatever it is that binds the riced stuff)...not to mention the salt factor: Yes, they were advertised as "sea-salted," but not as "rolled in seal-salt." Sorry to be so mean. Other reviewers had great experiences, although it seems many ordered in advance, and maybe didn't have to experience any in-person issues? Anyway: We never write about a place on our blog unless we love it. So needless to say, this truck will hereafter go...

I HAVE NEVER HAD A GYRO IN ALL MY 20+ YEARS OF ENJOYING FINE DINING GREEK RESTAURANTS TO THIS ONE A FOOD TRUCK WITH OUTDOOR SEATING THAT APPEARS TO BE ATTACHED TO A KITCHEN IN A BUILDING? Anyways, now that I am done screaming in Caps, had I had ANY idea that during a weekday and around 3-5 pm they would 1st not have falafel 2nd what Gyro EVER COMES WITH A LAMB PATTIE...that was a total turn off, the meat was not even comparable to the traditional lamb meat normally served at even the finest of Greek places, I always ask for double meat because I love it...WELL I CERTAINLY DO NOT LOVE THESE LAMB PATTIES. They again, like I said, were out of falafel. They were telling me that even though it's on their menu, they do not have Dolmades??? WTH, why is it on your menu? I drove an hour to get to your restaurant based on your menu, and you did not have 4 things we asked for, and the worst was the LAMB meat??? Patties in a Gyro??? You charged 1.00 more to get LAMB on a Gyro umm hello I am 55 years old. LAMB is MOSTLY THE MEAT THAT IS SERVED WITH GYRO'S so why in the world would you charge. I have medical issues that require me to eat at certain times..we all know West of the Ashley traffic so I was STUCK the young lady working the window was halfway okay and I speak Spanish Fluently as did she, however she obviously did not want to ve there or the call on her white air pods were more important than us, another customer came after we sat down he spoke Spanish she was so kind to him she walked into the kitchen to check on his to go order and spoke with a smile and even came out of her truck to hand him his food..of courseI did add a tip because no matter what bills are high these days and at least she was working so of course I am going to tip...BUT NEVER AGAIN WILL I EAT THESE FOOD..YOU HAVE ITEMS ON MENU THAT YOU DO NOT OFFER, YOUR OUT OF FALAFEL AND 2 OTHER ITEMS I CANNOT REMEMBER MY SISTER REQUESTED AND THEN I PAID ALMOST 50.00 I ALWAYS GO TO KAIROS OR THE Great Mediterranean even Stella's and Olympik ALL SERVE THE SLICED LAMB MEAT AND IT'S NOT AN UPCHARGE. Bottom line e had it not been for my needing to eat...I would have never...
