We ate here for a Saturday brunch. I hate the fried green tomato po boy with pimento cheese and my wife had the french toast. Both were pretty good. The bottom line is I would come back here, but didn't find it flawless.
Service I felt was very good. Wait staff was constantly coming by and checking on us, refilling drinks, and ensuring we had everything that we needed.
Quality of the food was good, but I didn't feel it was flawless. The pimento cheese wasn't really to my liking. For sure it was made in house and simply put it was too spice heavy for my like. We were told that ahead of time, so I don't hold that against them, just I wouldn't order it again. I did order a basket of fries to share as a side and the fries were excellent. The fried green tomatoes were good as well. The french toast my wife had were good. When she got to the sausage that was on the side neither of us cared for it. Really heavy sage taste or something along that line. Then for a bonus note I felt the coffee was above average. All in all pretty good.
One thing I felt was a downside is there is a bit of a wait for food. The wait staff were very good at what they were doing and were not slow at all. Your order just takes some time to make it to you and we got there before a rush. Just factor that in.
I would happily go back and would recommend to...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to try this little place out. It’s not much to look at on the outside. TBH it’s very unassuming from the outside. We got here at around 5pm on a sat and we were the only customers when we walked in. We both weren’t too sure about how it was gonna be but we were very surprised! (Don’t worry they started getting busy around 5:30)We ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes with pimento cheese and let me tell you what! The tomatoes are fine just by themselves but add that pimento cheese to them and they are out of this world fantastic! I ordered the gumbo plate with the cornbread and collards. The gumbo was actually pretty good even though I feel it could have used a little more heat, but that’s just me. I can’t speak to the collards as I dont eat them but my husband did. He said the collards were fantastic and he would order those himself. The cornbread, OMG the cornbread! The cornbread tasted like grandma giving you a great big warm hug to make you feel better. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits and he said it was probably the best shrimp and grits he has had in a while. We live 2 1/2 hours away and have already decided we will be coming back at least once a month to work our way...
Read moreWe recently dined at The Glass Onion and had a delightful experience that exceeded our expectations. The meal started with an order of fried green tomatoes, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, served with a wonderful pimento cheese. The seasoning was spot-on, setting a high bar for the rest of the meal.
For the main course, I chose the fried pork chop with red rice and macaroni salad. The pork chop was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and tender, flavorful meat. The red rice was a delightful complement, and the macaroni salad was creamy and delicious, balancing the plate wonderfully.
My husband opted for the shrimp and grits with collard greens. The shrimp were succulent and paired perfectly with the creamy, well-seasoned grits. The collard greens added a nice touch of bitterness and depth to the dish, rounding out a fantastic meal.
The staff at The Glass Onion were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout our visit. Overall, everything was perfectly seasoned and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend The Glass Onion for anyone looking for a memorable...
