Thai food was awful. I ordered something from a photo that was cooked crispy with chili peppers. They didn’t have brown rice which I accepted but when I ordered the food was 26$. The soup I ordeeed was only 6-7$ so the meal was 20?! I have paid 20 but I expect it to be really good. This was soggy Chinese style food. I honestly could have prepared this at home. I called to check if I ordered the wrong thing but they said it didn’t look like that because I ordered shrimp instead of chicken. They also said mine didn’t have chili peppers because I didn’t ask for it to be spicy. I asked for chili oil at the check out and was turned down and told they didn’t have anything hot except sriracha. So when I got home the food was mediocre/okay. I was hoping my thom yum soup would make up for the meal not being what I wanted. I warmed it up today and it looked very weird when I first saw it. When I heated it up it did not smell good. The shrimp and everything looked and smelled bad. Not fragrant or Thai like at all. Super disappointed. It was full of mushrooms. So many mushrooms it was like a mushroom soup. I like them in my thom yum but this was so many and overpowering whereas the whole broth was like a mushroom broth and it wasn’t even fresh smelling. Needless to say, I never even tasted it. It went straight into to trash. I will never order from there again. The highlight meal of my weekend ruined. I don’t want my money back. The customer service they provided in person and over the phone shows me that probably isn’t even an option. Ordered from here based mainly off the ratings so I’m not sure why the food was so bad.

This is a hidden gem I found on the Yelp Charlotte top 100 list. It's hidden in a strip mall off of Independence Blvd. Don't judge it from the outside. They seem to mostly do take out now. There was only one other table there when we were. The service was very friendly. We started with a Thai Tea which was amazing. I recommend saving it to drink with the spicy food. We were with a group and decided to do a big family style meal. For appetizers, we started with the spring rolls, the Papaya Salad, and the Larb Kai. We ordered both the Papaya Salad and the Larb Kai hot and they were both incredibly spicy and delicious. For entrees, we got the Pad See Ew (beef), Drunken Noodles (chicken), Green Curry (chicken), and Pineapple Fried Rice (combo). Everything was amazing. The Pad See Ew and Drunken Noodles were my favorite and the Green Curry was very good as well. We ordered everything hot, but the entrees weren't nearly as spicy as the appetizers. It's all reasonably priced. We paid $20/person and it was way too much food. We all left stuffed. I think this was the best Thai food I've had in Charlotte. It's definitely a must try!

Tonight I unfortunately dined at Aroy Thai/ Sushi Machi, located in a shopping plaza off East independence Freeway. The restaurant was completely empty during my visit, aside from a few takeout orders being picked up, which didn’t feel like a great sign. I started with the tuna tataki, but it didn’t deliver. The tuna tasted low quality, was over-peppered, and felt hastily prepared with inconsistent slice thickness, the searing was not even. The pad thai combo with chicken and beef was even worse. It was unbelievably sweet and unappetizing, I could barely eat it and left more than half on the plate. You can see in my photos that the noodles were almost swimming in sauce, which only made the overly sweet flavor more overwhelming. Overall, nothing I tried felt worth returning for. I’ll stick to my usual spots next time. Hopefully, the restaurant can work on improving the quality and flavors for a better experience.

Updated review: I went to Aroy to get take out and learned the owners Terry and Megan sold the place and it is now under new management. I decided to give it a whirl and was disappointed. Amazing what a change in management can do to a place. The service was subpar and food as well. We ordered the same items we always get -- the quality went down in taste & presentation. We ordered the shrimp in a blankets and veggie spring rolls -- they tasted soggy and the dipping sauce had a strange vinegary after taste. I ordered pad Thai and hubby got so sweet and sour chickenn-- the veggies were ok but the sauce was runny for both items. Am disappointed, this place used to be my jam.

This was my original 5 star review: Wow!! Im so happy this place is on my side of town! The owners, Terry and Megan, are kind and welcoming. The food is ON POINT, the real deal (not bs commercialized Thai). We ordered veggie & tofu pad thai, so sweet chicken, egg rolls and shrimp in a blanket. The apps were really well made and super flavorful. Our meal was to-go, and I love that the containers for the fried items had vents (so that they dont get soggy). My hubby said the shrimps in a blanket were unique, unlike anything he's ever had -- and they were delish. Our entrees were cooked to perfection and again, really authentic in flavor. Ill be back and plan to order everything on the menu before I circle back to my first awesom order :)! Im gonna copy & paste this into Yelp. Thanks Terry & Megan, so happy youre here...

Its Friday and door dash is busy I get an order to pick up from this place. When I step in its hotter inside then outside I go further one small family dining in and one carry out waiting so its not busy. When I make it to register she says have a seat. So I did and 15 min later which is 12 min after the time I am supposed to pick up. She asks who am I picking up for. So I started to tell her what time the pick was for and she got super nasty about how I just need to wait. Poor service and I was just trying to deliver there food I can only imagine how I would be treated if I was actually trying to dine in.

I was not frustrated about waiting you were not the first restaurant or last restaurant I will deliver for. The problem comes with the dismissive tone like I have nothing else to do but sit and wait on one order during peak on Friday evening, but I did sit and wait then when you come over to me 15 min later and act like you don't have a clue as to whom I am picking up for is confusing. That should have been noted before I was told to sit down for 15 min then when I tell you the pick up time you snap at me like I did something wrong you said again very nasty I just have to wait. We should work together in harmony but its hard to work with anyone when instead of apologizing they put up a story trying to be right. You were nasty to me for no reason you think the only reason I am working is because of your restaurant...
