I’ve frequented quite a few AYCE spots over the years, but my favorite ones were in the South End and University areas of Charlotte. Now, I have a new fave in south Charlotte.
I had no idea this restaurant was here until recently and I’m glad I found it. Located less than 10 minutes from Carowinds, this Japanese restaurant brings together all-you-can-eat sushi and hibachi.
The restaurant operates like most AYCE spots. For example, unlimited sushi and hibachi is available for dine-in customers only. Sharing is not allowed between those who order AYCE and those who order a la carte. There is also a surcharge of .50 - $1.00 for each piece left over, which you can take home.
At my first visit, I tried the following:
APPETIZERS Crab Rangoon Gyoza Shumai Spring Roll Vegetable Tempura
BENTO BOX Bento Box A- Served with fried rice, includes house salad, gyoza (2pcs), California roll (4pcs), hibachi or teriyaki (choice of chicken or vegetable).

Read moreI'm honest with my reviews. I dont care who I offend or get in trouble. This is business. I walked in, and the dude was sleeping at the front desk. I have a picture. Smh Food it was good, but It was so heavy on the sauce in the fried rice. Soy is already bad for us. Gluten is one of the causes of cancer and more. The fact that there's only 4 vegetables in the fried rice, and I asked for no onions and zucchini (allergies), you would think they would substitute with other veggies (carrots, broccoli) or double up! Haha That is called going above and beyond for a guest. Hospitality 101. But ok. It's not a big deal. Service (after the guy) was on point. As expected from integral staff. His co-worker (older lady) saved the day. You know, hi, welcome, dining in or togo? you know. Caitlin (my server) hit all the marks, anticipated perfectly, and the other lady that sat me. Caitlin was professional, knowledgeable, attentive, kind, and present. Atmosphere I personally like it slow and empty. I went during the day. Slightly after lunch time. I dont recall hearing music. Or maybe it wasn't loud enough. It would've helped drown out the two ladies chopping it up (no pun intended) as loud as the music should've been. Haha
I highly recommend this place. Make sure not to wake up the guy. He's serving in dreamland. Haha
Ps, please consider more vegetarian/ vegan options that's not just a vegetable. Maybe two or three more.
Pps sorry if I was...
Read moreCame here for dinner for the first time. Got sushi only, no hibachi. Sushi was good. Got 4 of the specialty rolls. The first 2 were great, the second 2 were deep fried with crispy rice outer. I normally don't mind this style but those didn't seem to have much filling, were heavy on the rice, were overly filling, appetite killers. I don't remember the menu specifying they were this style rolls. To be fair I did have one of them prepared without an ingredient so maybe that's why. The ingredient; mango. Gross. Quit over using mango and cucumber as token fillers on the specialty rolls. I've seen places this format (Mr Tokyo, etc) sometimes have one roll with mango but this place has like 4 or 5 it seemed. Also it was hard to find a roll with soft shelled crab...there may have been one. The appetizers were great however, krab rangoon was nice. I'd come back here. Overall it seemed exactly like Mr Tokyo but with the AYCE hibachi. FWIW I paid like $26 plus tax and tip for dinner. Lunch is evidently $17. Staff friendly. Nice place. Give more fish in the rolls and diversify the selection and ill give...
