Wing King Cafe Charlotte NC — Restaurant in Charlotte

I already had an I-O-U for bacon that was left off of my fries a little while back. (I understand busy nights things may be forgotten.)Tonight while placing my order inside the restaurant I forgot about my I-O-U so I ended up paying for that as a topping on my fries. (Well no big deal, it’s my fault.) I left the restaurant only to realize my burger did NOT have bacon on it as I requested. Once returning inside to prep my burger properly the cashier stated she didn’t hear me ask for bacon. (I literally put bacon on everything...I KNOW I asked for bacon.) So she put the bacon on my burger free of charge. I return ALLLL the way to work only for the burger to be RAW in the inside. I was ticked at this point. Driving back to the restaurant to get my burger cooked (my 3rd visit for one order) I counted my wings & only had FOUR in my FIVE piece combo. Wings weren’t fried crispy as I asked either. Maybe the cashier couldn’t hear me over her loud attitude?? So pretty much the kitchen can’t count to 5 or cook meat thoroughly, cashier can’t hear the words “bacon” or “crispy”. Steve rectified the situation by replacing my wings with a FIVE piece that was CRISPY! And granted me an I-O-U for a COOKED burger with BACON the next time I order. So thanks to him I will return with my business. (I’m not one of those customers looking for free things...I only want my food the RIGHT way the FIRST time.) firstly, Ive been coming to this restaurant for nearly 20 years; maybe more. Some years had more visits than others, but recently I moved back to the area and go quite often with my roommate. I enjoy the staff and they are great and tend to know what we want when we walk in the door! that's great! unfortunately, its incredibly hit or miss with food quality. Its at the point I may stop going all-together because I feel bad for not wanting to complain about "this visit" being a bad one and not having a good experience going forward. Some days, the wings are proper size and the sauces are properly mixed. many times the wings are tiny, absolutely nuked and the sauces arent even prepared. I literally had wings with chopped garlic thrown on the top. not sauce. Last time I went, my wings were of noticeably poor quality, yet my roommate sitting directly across from me had not only superb looking wings, but actually got more than he ordered. (put in perspective, My 10 wings weighed maybe half the weight of his 10 wings). I understand not every food item will be perfect, but thats 100% controllable and shouldnt happen. If you want to be a dive bar, keep at it. if you want to be a staple as Ive previously viewed your business...make adjustments. This happens often and you can see it in the reviews. also, disconnecting your phone an hour before close is unfortunate for individuals that only have time to come...

My visit was 12/20/24 during lunch. The waiter a gentleman who didn’t disclose his name, took our order. During the ordering process I told him I am a regular customer at the Wing King in Fort Mill. He says you’re at the “OG” location today it will be much better. Based on my experience - the OG location can learn a lot from the Fort Mill location. Service was horrible! I had to ask another waiter for our drinks. Our food was served after other diners who came in after us. The food was warm to cold when it was finally brought over. My son could barely finish his wings because it was too much seasoning. I asked for hot fries, when I really should’ve asked for the entire meal to be redone. But I carried them out to warm up at home. The waiter barely checked on us but I noticed he was consistent with all his other tables. I paid the check and he noticed there was no tip. He came back to the table and asked was I leaving a cash tip. I said no, due to slow and lack of service, cold food& having to ask for my drinks. He begins to debate about the drinks, which was astonishing. My teenage son who was with me laughed because he couldn’t believe the audacity of the waiter. As we’re leaving the waiter tells the staff I complained about the fries. It was more than just the fries. I won’t return to the Charlotte location but will continue to enjoy the Fort Mill Wing King.
