Chex Grill & Wings — Restaurant in Charlotte

This was my first time trying the philiy cheesesteak sub. It comes with onions, green peppers, provolone, and mayo. I had them add tomatoes. I also had fries. The cheesesteak was good, but the steak, in my opinion, was too chopped up like ground beef. The fries were good but a little too salty. I will come back to try other items. The service was great. The men's bathroom was clean and stocked.

4/27/25 My 3rd visit. My wife ordered wings, fried mushrooms, and a fountain soda, I ordered a steak n cheese wrap with bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, provolone cheese, fries and a fountain drink. My wife said that her wings were tasty but fried just a little too hard. The fried mushrooms were good. The fries were good but still a little too salty. The steak n cheese wrap was good but needed salt n pepper. I personally prefer a sub because I love to have tomatoes and mayo on my steak n cheese. The fountain sodas were bubbly and flavored just right. If you don't like how something that you ordered comes, you can tell them how you want it, and they will let you have your way all you have to do is ask when you are ordering. The men's bathroom on this visit was a little pee pee smelly and needed paper towels. I will be back to try the gyro.

5/12/25 On this visit, we picked up our order. My wife ordered a jerk chicken sub. She said it was good she shared it with my daughter, and she also said it was good. I ordered a gyro with extra onions, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce with onion rings and a strawberry cheese cake. The gyro was ok not the best I have had in Charlotte and definitely not the worst. The pita bread was on point soft and tasty. The lamb had a nice flavor, but a little more of it would have been better. I will ask for extra next time. The onions should have been red onions they are stronger and are really good on gyros. The tzatziki sauce needed more lemon juice and dill to give it that really good t-sauce flavor. What an amazing place to catch a good meal. First allow me to tell you how clean this place is. The floors the tables the area around the trash cans and every part of the drink dispenser was flawless. The restaurant has wide open spaces so i did not feel like I was sitting to close, or that I could not stretch out and enjoy the meal. There is a total of three very large televisions that can be seen from every part of the restaurant, which makes dinning here and watching TV very comfortable. The staff, wow. They met me with lots of warm smiles and showed an eagerness to serve me. The menu. Two words. Come Hungry. The wing choices, and let me tell you there's a ton of them, are more one could have imagined. On this night I chose the Philly cheese steak with fries, and boy oh boy they serve the shoe string type of french fries. Which took me back to my earliest childhood memories when this type of french fries was more prevalent. The sandwich was hot and the melted cheese was equally distributed all over the entire length of the sub. Now for all of you that like to either sit outside alone or with a friend or family member, or perhaps a significant other. The outdoor seating is the place. Cozy spacious and relaxing. I’ve visited this restaurant more than times than I can count, and while the food has usually been decent—my go-to orders are the dry-rubbed wings (Buffalo or lemon pepper) and the burger combo—my recent experiences have been disappointing.

On my last couple of visits, not only has the food quality gone downhill, but the service has been terrible. One of the servers, Catherine, had an unwelcoming attitude, which made the experience even worse. The food preparation time has also been frustratingly long. For example, on November 21, I ordered the burger combo with five wings, and it took 25 minutes to arrive. When it finally did, the burger was cold, and the food overall was just okay.

We expressed our dissatisfaction that day, and to their credit, they gave us a voucher for a future visit. However, when we returned to redeem it on December 7, the experience was no better. Catherine, the server we dealt with this time was rude and dismissive, especially when I asked to redeem the voucher, the wait time or if the soda/ice machine was working. Once again, the food took 25 minutes, and when it finally came out, it was lukewarm at best.

I’m not sure if the kitchen staff has changed or if something else is going on, but this place is no longer meeting expectations. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this restaurant, and I won’t...
