My husband and I were deciding where to go for lunch, & after looking at reviews for this place (4.6 stars) we decided to give it a try. As we entered, we were greeted and said it was for here but the lady walked away. The lady then came back & had her cell phone to her ear as she was trying to ask us what we wanted so we were confused as to who she was speaking to. We stood at the register counter & ordered the beef pad Thai, chicken wings, and 2 bowls of combination pho and gave her a name for the order. We stood at the counter after ordering & paying because we were not directed to sit or anything so we were standing for a good bit waiting for her to tell us something. She could have at least said that we could seat ourselves as we have never been there before so we did not know how it was supposed to go. I got the memo and told my husband that we should go sit. After we sat and waited for our food, another lady came out of the kitchen and quietly said the name of the order and placed it on the counter. If I had not been paying attention, then we wouldn’t have heard that. With the food on our table and me still being optimistic about the food besides the low level of hosting & service, I couldn’t help but notice that everything was in plastic containers even though we ordered for here. I tried to look past everything and poured my pho broth on top of my bowl of noodles and once I seasoned it and mixed, the broth was ok. I was happy with the broth, but the raw cuts of beef was kind of thick so it didn’t cook as quickly as it should have with the broth.. so the chunks were a little chewy. After finishing most of my pho, I was ready to move onto the pad Thai. As I opened it and smelled it, it smelt like feet! Oh my goodness. But I gave it a try anyway. It tasted like I ate some crabs, why does it taste like crabs??? I’ve eaten Pad Thai all my life & Pad Thai is not supposed to taste like that. We ended up throwing it away. I opened the chicken wings container next…it smelled like straight soy sauce so I was also disappointed. However, with curiosity my husband and I tried a bite and it wasn’t too too bad. It was edible but could have been better off without the sauce. We cleaned up and left. After leaving.. it was so not worth it to pay $60 for the service we received and food. Don’t waste your time and...
Read moreWell I went Viet –Thai on Friday 5/22/26 at 1:00pm because I wanted to try a PHÖ place near me instead of driving cross town. The restaurant is very clean and basic; a sparce, cold atmosphere.
I asked for the PHÖ with well done beef and 2 shrimp spring rolls and iced coffee for dine in. They don’t have iced coffee which is available in almost every PHÖ restaurant I’ve ever been to. That would be a key to what I was going to experience. When they called me up to get my order I was kind of taken aback! I said to the lady, “ I asked for dine in, for here.” She said “yes, this is.”
On a tray was a good sized covered to go bowl, a covered quart container of broth, a styrofoam to go box, a zip lock bag bean sprouts, a package of cutlery and a package of chop sticks.
In the bowl was pre-prepared beef slices, noodles, chopped green and white onion, basil and cilantro leaves and slices of jalapeno. I tasted the broth before pouring into the bowl and realized it was CHICKEN BROTH! REALLY???!! Once combined the overall flavor was okay but not the hearty beefy flavor I believe PHÖ should have. The beef slices were of a cheap, fatty texture. (See photos)
The spring rolls were large but, full of mostly shredded lettuce and two shrimp. The “peanut sauce” was sweet and ginger but, not “peanutty”.
I did notice that of the ten of us eating in the restaurant, eight were eating Thai. Only two of us were eating PHÖ; and the other patron had a traditional bowl of PHÖ. When I asked how come I didn’t get my PHÖ in that way, the woman said he was “special customer”…REALLY?
Sooo… I have eaten at several PHÖ restaurants in the Central Avenue area. Viet-Thai’s PHÖ is adequate but lacks the heartiness true flavor of an authentic PHÖ. The reviewer that said Viet-Thai’s PHÖ was the best around apparently hasn’t experienced much in the way of real PHÖ. I will have to happily continue to drive over to Central Ave. to get real, authentic PHÖ. It’s worth the drive!!

Read moreI just got back from an incredible six-week adventure in Vietnam and Thailand, and I've been craving authentic Vietnamese pho ever since. After doing a little research, I decided to drive to Viet-Thai Restaurant, and let me tell you— it was absolutely worth the trip!
I ordered a large bowl of pho, and it did not disappoint! The broth was rich, flavorful, and had that perfect depth I had missed. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the generous portion of tender meat was a delightful surprise.
What really stood out to me was the freshness of the ingredients. Everything tasted so authentic, like I had just stepped into a local eatery back in Vietnam. Plus, the staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole dining experience even better.
If you're craving high-quality pho or just looking for a taste of Vietnam right here at home, Viet-Thai Restaurant is the place to be. I can't wait to return and try more of their delicious offerings!...
