I'll start with their atmosphere. Everything is well lit and inside is all white with black chairs if I remember correctly. Minimalistic and it's very nice and aesthetically pleasing. Each table has a paper towel holder with a full thing of paper towels there and they're the nice ones too. I feel like they might be the Viva cloth paper towels, lol. Yes, that matters to me🤣. Now on to the food. I used to think that there was only but so many ways you can do chicken wings, I'll be honest. This place CAN definitely compete with Chicken King. Chicken King has more actual dinner type stuff. Chex Grill & Wings is quite the opposite, but in a good way. They have a plethora of different wing flavors, wraps, subs, and desserts. When I say a plethora of chicken wing flavors, I certainly mean that. It literally took me 30 minutes and about 15 questions to make a decision on the flavor I wanted. If I'm being honest, even places like BW3's CAN NOT compete with them. I had the red lemon pepper which is basically the hot wing sauce on top of lemon pepper. They were okay but it was too much sauce. I just feel that if you're going do flavors like that, make sure that there are equal parts of each flavor so you can really taste the combination. I do know if I decide to try that flavor again or any combination of flavors, I'll ask for minimal sauce or just have the sauce put in a ramekin on the side for dipping. Another good takeaway is that if you are particular about your chicken wings, you can ask them to fry them hard or not as hard, as well as requesting all flats, or all drums, at no extra charge. And let's not forget, they're actually a pretty good size. If you order a seven piece or larger, you're also able to mix and match flavors.
I also had the chicken fajita sub. I honestly would never have thought to do this. Usually when you order a chicken Philly type sub, the chicken is always tough. This was not the case. It was full of flavor and it was absolutely tender and delicious. The only problem (not really s real issue though) is it came to me looking like an open face sandwich so I had to eat with a knife and fork because it was kind of messy. I had no problem with that. But the flavor was simply amazing and it will be something that I will try in the future, at home. I almost forgot the most important part, 😂. If you're like me and don't want the excess bread in the sub, you can ask them to pull out the bread filling and they will do it.
My partner and two kids also had an order of wings. If I remember correctly I order came out to roughly somewhere between $60 and $80. This is the only thing that I have a problem with. The food is good, don't get me wrong however $10 (rounded up from $9.79) is quite a bit to pay for seven wings IMO. It's just kind of expensive. They do come with celery (not sure if carrots are an option.) I was actually really disappointed with those because you didn't get a normal celery stick. It's like they took two sticks and cut them into 1.5 inch pieces. You do get your choice of ranch or blue cheese. I prefer blue cheese and I wasn't terribly happy with that. (I said it once and I'll say it again, Boardwalk Billy's at the lake, has the best Blue Cheese dressing in Charlotte PERIODT.) The wings are expensive compared to a whole chicken fajita sub which is $8.99. The sub is a little bit short of a foot maybe 10 in long with plenty of chicken on it. That's the only issue I have with the place, that I can think of. I mean the bathrooms were clean and everything else was quite all right including the music that they were playing. (It's Spanish run and owned so a lot of reggaeton & bachata was playing, which I have absolutely no problems with🥰.) Employees are nice as well.
Other than that that's my take on the place. I hope you...
Read moreVery bright! The restaurant feels like you're inside of a fluorescent light bulb. All of the furniture is white . That and the bright lights make it feel cold and unwelcoming, in my opinion. The menu would be better if they offered at least one option that had a mix of wings and chicken strips. Like they have at similar restaurants. The wings were reasonably priced and were tasty, the Hawaiian Jerk and original Buffalo were both excellent, and the wings were cooked perfectly. The service was ok, Being that it's a new restaurant with a lot of new customers, I would like to have had someone offer a little information on how the menu is set up, specials or popular items, or just a general "let us know if you have any questions about our menu". Instead, it's just a silent stare as they waited for me to figure out the menu and make a decision. Overall, I would say a good place to order take-out, but certainly not a very good place to take a date or family night out, which is unfortunate because it's very close to our house. I'd hoped to like it a little more because I love wings! We'll see how it...
Read moreThis review would have a 1 star if the food wasn’t so good! The food is great! But the service is ALWAYS so terrible and the restaurant is never the cleanest, which is why we always order takeout. My husband and I have ordered from this location every week without fail for months. Sometimes more than once a week. You might be wondering why we would come back if the service is so terrible? I ask myself the same question every single time I order through this location…LITERALLY every time… but it’s the closest one to us (less than a mile away) and the food is sooo good. If you can handle horrible customer service, staff frequently hanging up on you while you’re on the phone, AND their new AI phone service literally never working.. then go to this location. Just make sure you double check your order every time before you leave the restaurant! Or else maybe you’ll have better luck at a different Chex grill. The foods...
