This was a good concept, but poorly executed. My first guess that this meal wouldn't be very good was that it was completely deserted. Wanting to give them a fair shake, I attributed that to the late hour. (They close at 7:00 on weekdays.)
I ordered a bison burger 'Clean Eatz' style, with a side salad, and my wife had the chicken flatbread. They informed me that they were out of bison, so I chose turkey instead. No mention of the upcharge for bison being refunded, but I was still eager to try some awesomely prepared and healthy food.
We got our food, and I was initially impressed by the turkey burger, and the multi-grain pita style bread. The turkey bacon was just OK, however the low fat cheese was a mistake. It would have been far better just plain. It included a large slice of tomato, and some assorted greens. The side salad was just plain chopped romaine with a small cup of dressing.
The cheese was offensively fake tasting, and overwhelmed the sandwich. I wolfed down about half of it and could not finish.
My wife's 'flatbread' was more like an odd sandwich ala Panera's flatbread. Despite us ordering chicken, it included a large, spoiled chunk of fish. She refused to eat more than a single bite of it, and I don't blame her at all. It included the same basic salad.
My daughter's kids meal included some very dry and plain flaked chicken mounded over plain broccoli. It was ill prepared, and utterly devoid of flavor. It also included a slimy and unappealing yogurt 'parfait'.
It also came with marshmallow fudge cups which were strangely, excellent, but were essentially just candy.
I have had very good calorie restricted meals at places like Panera, Chopt, Sweet Tomatoes, or Seasons 52. This was not bad because of the low calorie ingredients, but because of poor preparation, and lack of freshness.
This was honestly one of the least enjoyable meals I can remember. I can think of no...
Read moreI was really excited to come here because it's not easy finding quick/cheap AND healthy. My boyfriend and I arrived for our first visit so we walk in and the girls at the counter just stared at us without a greeting. I told her, "Hi! Just a minute--it's our first time here" expecting some kind of welcome or a "that's fine, take your time", but no. They didn't care and just looked away. Then we place our order. I ordered a salmon salad because it came with goat cheese and a lot of other toppings I love. They let me know they were out of salmon (sad) so I chose to just replace it with chicken instead (really wanted that goat cheese!) My boyfriend chose the build-a-bowl, but is doing no carbs right now so just got vegetables. Oh, and the girl taking our order gave him a weird look when she asked with an attitude, "so you don't want a carb?" and he answered no. Our order came out and my salad consisted of spinach leaves and onions topped with the replacement chicken. I hunt down someone to help me and I point out that my salad only has onions on it and it's supposed to have all these other toppings. She says "oh yeah, we're out of all that stuff--the manager went to the store". Well, you could've told me that at the same time you told me you were also out of salmon and I would've ordered something else entirely. Also, this is at 1pm-- prime lunch time. Why would you be out of practically everything?? As for my boyfriend's bowl--since he did no carb, they didn't make up for it with extra veggies or anything. The portion was laughable, but maybe that was our mistake for ordering a bowl with no carb--hence the strange look from the girl taking our order. Oh well, I might give them one more shot. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because they did end up replacing my salad with something else that they had the ingredients for, free of charge. Thanks for that, but you seriously need a nicer staff...
Read moreWhen we walked in the manager was visibly fustrated by whatever was going on with his phone call. I had never been there before and was looking to the girl at the counter for some suggestions. She stated she was new there and she doesn't eat food like that anyway. Um....Wow....ok.....after taking forever to decide, I ordered the Wasabi Crab wrap with side salad. It had Had absolutely NO Wasabi on it. I was also missing a dressing I had ordered. I had ordered ranch and balsamic vinaigrette. The ranch was absolutely terrible and they both tasted like they had come premade. I let the girl know my wrap was very bland and that it was missing the Wasabi. Instead of offering to take it back and fix it the way it supposed to be prepared, she left me with my wrap to talk to the guy in the kitchen. I was informed all they had was wasabi powder and it was very hot. Um....ok?! I ordered the WASABI Crab. I Was asked if she could bring me some. Never offered to have prepared properly. I was brought a ramikin full of prepared Wasabi Powder. So at the table I had to unfold half my wrap, Try to incorporate a wasabi paste that was supposed to be a drizzle onto the bland crab and unsuccessfully re-roll my wrap. Very very disappointed. Not once did the manager ever come over to apologize or do anything to make it right. I also ordered the healthy nachos. They were good except for the fact that Everytime I would cut a piece of sweet potato fries the paper in the basket would tear and I was fishing paper off my fork before I could eat. All in all I doubt I'll be back and I was very dissatisfied with my visit. The concept is great, the execution needs some...
