I've been to a Jack Brown's before but somehow this Jack Brown's was like no other. Walking in you get the same atmosphere, beer selection, and fantastic food that you have come to love and at this point expect from Jack Brown's. Then out of no where comes Sadie! She appears with a water for everyone in our group right after we sat down on the outside covered patio area. Some in the group had never been and she was able to recommend beers and burgers and sticky nuggs and so much more that were fantastic. Sadie was like the Lorax of beer, the second one was finished she appeared to get you another. She somehow managed to do all this without being overbearing or annoying either! Not only that but as we were simply visiting Charlotte we asked about brunch recommendations and once again Sadie has out done herself. She lists all kinds of places, describes the food, the cost, the vibe, the drinks, really just anything and everything you would want to make a decision. Once you think this fantastic night had come to an end Sadie brought out Nelly to get us some more recommendations of breweries, bars, and restaurants that we had to hit before our trip was to end. Neither Sadie nor Nelly provided a single recommendation that we didn't love! In my opinion both Sadie and Nelly are the epitome of what customer service could ever dream of being! (perhaps a raise may be in order). And of course to finish our trip we did go back to jack browns to get some much needed food to help us feel better in...

2025 Update - This is a new bar at this point. Following a series of permanent 86ing of 90% of the menu over 5 months, they have rebranded, leaving the only reason to go here is to see people you know.
The burgers are pretty mid, and I don't really know how they'll keep the kitchen open when you can go down the street to 7 different places to get a better burger.
I love filling out the beer card, but paying $9 for a 9 once pour for a 5% abv beer/cider is dumb.
Nonetheless, in 2 years this went from one of the best spots in NoDa to being a husk of it's old self.
One of the best chicken sandwiches and fries of my life. Honestly, I need to come back and take some pictures it was so flipping good.
I've been coming here for forever but actually never try it out anything from the kitchen. Now I know I've been missing out all these years.
Billy Jack's has an excellent choice of beer and mixed drinks for a great price. The place has a perfect energy of dive bar mixed with local neighborhood spot.
If you want to make this one of your regular spots they have a beer club you can join and if you drink a 100 beers you get a special spot at the bar as well as a custom mug instead of the regular glass.
Whether you're visiting no doubt or you're living nearby... ah forgot it, why haven't you checked it...
Read moreIt physically pains me to write this review. As an alum of JMU in Harrisonburg, VA, home of the original Jack Brown's and Billy Jack's locations, and now as a NoDa resident, I have been frequenting both places for over 10 years. I was bitterly disappointed when Billy Jack's did away with brunch, then with their sliders, and then the final blow of the rebrand announcement which took an axe to my beloved sticky nuggs. I stewed for awhile, as another burger place is definitely not what the neighborhood needs, but finally conceded and returned to the newly minted Jack Brown's this weekend to check it out. Unfortunately, it can't hold a candle to the original Jack Brown's location, nor any of the other Virginia locations I have visited. The burger was too greasy and everything, including the fries, tasted overwhelmingly of black pepper. I used to love their burgers in college because they were the perfect size and super affordable. Unfortunately, they have raised prices substantially. Of course I understand the necessity for price increases in today's economy, but a burger that size isn't worth $12, especially when its underwhelming.
Also incredibly disappointed to see the JB's team replying to other reviews with a canned response. Bummed to see one of my all-time favorite spots turn into just another chain restaurant that puts profit above all else. I'm very sad to say I don't know if I'll...
