La Riviera Marisqueria — Restaurant in Charlotte

Never been here but it was convenient to the hotel I was staying at that night came in and was automatically offered carry-out when I had planned to dine-in was told to seat myself which I did and then began to wait for nearly 15 minutes before server (Karen) chose to ask what I would like to drink once she came back with my drink I ordered. Little did I know I would wait nearly half an hour for my order and that my server (Karen) would not keep my drink full and when I ask for her to leave a pitcher she begins to say they don’t have pitchers and how they can bring additional drink but will have to charge even though I’m only asking for pitcher to keep from running out of drink and having nothing to drink. I ask her to show me where this is stated she can’t show me nor is it in the menu nor is a beverage menu available to show. I then receive my food it’s Luke warm and now mind you there is only 2 other customers aside from myself in the restaurant so I ask server (Karen) to speak to manager she said they don’t have one how can a business operate without management? I definitely will not be returning this was my first and last visit to this...

On 12/02/23, I and my Niece had dinner at La Riviera. I was visiting from out of town and my Niece lives in NC and previously dined at this restaurant. The food was great! We had good service. My issue is that when I received my bill, it had an 18% TIPS; $12.41 charge on it. It was not an option. Now the "customer copy" of the bill had an tip section that you could enter an amount. We question the waiter about it and then all of an sudden "he doesn't speak English" even though he spoken nothing but English when we spoke with him all during dinner. He got the Manager who stated they "charge" everyone 18% tip on the bill, no matter the size of the party. In my case it was only two of us. The service and food was good and I was thinking of leaving an 20% cash tip. I only paid the tip due to the services by the waiter and an waitress. I believe that billing a tip is against the law until less you have an large dinner party and it is stated on the menu, which I did not see. I complained to the BBB and they stated this restaurant wouldn't reply to the complaint. I would be very careful dinning here based on their...

This was my family’s first time coming to this restaurant and trust we will not be coming back. I just want to start of by saying the staff did not necessarily seem like they knew what they were doing.

As we were sitting at our table we over heard a man telling the staff that he thought they overcharged him and they called the police. 5 policemen for one person who thinks he was overcharged. I have been in costumer service for a long time and let me just say I was shocked. They could’ve explained what he was charged for rather than calling the cops.

Our server was very distracted and in two occasions she was on her watch/phone. Checked on us a couple of times. Let me add, all of the employees seem to be on their phones at all times.

& finally, the food is overpriced and not good at all. For a restaurant that has a 4.1 rating it did not...
