Popeye's Chicken Review – 1729 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC
My recent experience at this Popeye's location was by far the worst customer service I’ve received in over 20 years. Here’s what happened:
I placed an online order at 1:53 p.m. and arrived at the drive-thru at approximately 2:00 p.m. to pick it up. When I gave my name, the person at the drive-thru didn’t ask any questions but bluntly told me, “You need to come inside the store.” When I asked why, I received the same response with no explanation.
After parking and walking inside, I waited a couple of minutes before anyone acknowledged me. When someone finally came to the counter, the associate asked, “Can I help you?” I explained I was there to pick up my mobile order but had been told to come inside. She casually said, “Oh, we’re waiting on your chicken to cook. You can have your drink while you wait.”
At this point, I was confused because I was the only customer in the restaurant and no one was in the drive-thru. Ten minutes passed before the associate informed me it would be another 8 minutes because they were still cooking my chicken. Frustrated, I asked why the chicken wasn’t ready since I’d ordered ahead of time and no other customers were waiting. She explained that the deep fryers were full when I placed my order online and still full when I arrived.
I told her I wanted a refund because I was now late returning to work from my lunch break. The associate abruptly took back the drink she had given me earlier, threw it in the trash, and called for the manager, saying, “This man wants his money back.”
When the manager came, I explained the situation. He told me I couldn’t get a refund in-store and that I’d have to request it online. At this point, I was beyond frustrated but said I would wait for my food since I couldn’t get a refund. I asked if I could at least get my drink back while waiting, as the associate had unnecessarily thrown it away.
After waiting an additional 8 minutes, I finally received my order. The chicken was hot when I left, but by the time I returned to work and clocked in, it was cold, forcing me to reheat my lunch-turned-dinner in the microwave.
This experience was completely unacceptable. The lack of professionalism, poor communication, and sheer disregard for customer time was astonishing. I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone. If I could give this restaurant a 0-star...
Read moreThis location is a hit or miss; usually a miss. The last time I stopped by before last night, I'd placed an online order before arriving. My sister was on the phone & witnessed this situation.
When I got to the drive thru speaker, I let them know I had an online order. I was told that they were closed. It was much earlier than when the restaurant should've closed per posted hours in several places. I explained that I needed the order that I'd already paid for. If they were closed, I shouldn't have been permitted to place the order and then be given a pickup time for that same evening. Mysteriously, I was asked to come to the window & was given my order.
Last night (11-18-21), I stopped by again. A man greeted me. At this point, I'm not sure if it was an employee or a recording. There was a sign on the speaker saying that only cash was being accepted. The back door adjacent to the drive thru was wide open. After saying hello a few times & not getting a response, I drove around to the window.
The cashier looked at me but was very hesitant to open the window. I asked her if they were only accepting cash; didn't have any cash on me. She said they were closed. Read moreI’ve showed up to this location 2 times and dissatisfaction at its most high it’s almost like what’s the need for the location when you can barely get a order from drive through it takes more than 5 mins to get your order taken then you have to do more waiting after that. Almost as if you have to plan your day to come to this location if it’s because of low staff then Management need to get it together this is very unexceptionable you can tell this place doesn’t get clean very often due to glass doors look like they haven’t been wiped in days water bugs crawling on the outside I can just about see why this location barley gets customers this will definitely be my last time coming to this location which I hate because it’s very close to my house but until I see improvements I will not be coming back there was a net in my drink and at this point it’s been 30min to wait on food the worst Popeyes experience and to my surprise the d* wasn’t dead he was just taking a swim I guess lol also too add after u got home to check my drink again even tho the staff seemed pleasant that ice maker machine or whatever there using to distribute drinks needs a cleaning had to poor while drink out and drink something else from the corner store lol wow but hopefully this will help the...
