Romeo & Juliet Brazilian Cafe — Restaurant in Charlotte

I tried this place because my normal coffee shop was closed. I really enjoy the quaint but well lit atmosphere. The only issue that I had was the food. The smoothies were great! I ordered my daughter an açaí bowl. The menu stated that that the bowl came with granola and a couple of other items. You could add additional things like milk powder for an additional charge. I asked for the basic bowl. They had a hard time packaging it to go. It took an additional ten minutes to make it to go and it was spilling everywhere in the bag. I went straight home and I put it in the fridge. When my daughter came home a few hours later she opened it and it smelt absolutely putrid. Like they used juice that was turning already. I threw it out but that was $15 down the drain. I don’t mind paying for quality but that was a complete waste. It seems as if it’s a new(er) shop so maybe they need some time to work out the kinks. I will give them another change. I just probably won’t order...

I visited this Brazilian bakery today. The place is beautiful, but as soon as I walked in, there was a really strong chemical smell, kind of like medicine, which was honestly very unpleasant. It felt strange, but I decided to stay since I came to eat there. The smell was overwhelming though, and I honestly don’t know how the staff could stand being inside. I ended up ordering everything to go. The woman working there recommended a chocolate cake, it was really delicious. She also suggested a sandwich with cheese, I think it was ham, and egg, which was very tasty too. I also got a chicken empanada, but to be honest, it was my least favorite out of everything.

Never going back again. Took my family for a brunch time and the atmosphere experience was terrible. The music was too loud for such a small place, people were laughing so loud including the employees which is not professional. My husband had to stand by the cash register for awhile and no one offered to help. As far as food, the detox smoothie I ordered was watery and the tapioca shredded chicken was too salty and dry. To be honest, this was our worst restaurant experience in the Charlotte area. I’m Brazilian and I didn’t feel back at home at all. We felt the urge to leave because we didn’t feel comfortable being there. Their food was the only somewhat positive aspect of our experience.
