First, let me say the service was exceptional. I believe our waiters name was Juan, I apologize if I have the wrong person or spelled his name wrong. He was very attentive, inviting and really great at ensuring we understand what we were ordering. As a first time visitor, that made the experience better. The food was great, well seasoned, full of favor and the presentation was great as well.
Two things that they failed to share for first-timers; first, parking is terrible.
I had to go two blocks up the street to park. It wasn't until I sat down that my wife told me she was told that the additional parking was in the lot beside the restaurant. I did see that lot and when I tried to park there, there is a big warning sign that says towing at owner expense but not any indication that restaurant patrons can park there.
Secondly, when I made my reservations it was for the South Patio assuming the igloos are located there and when you book it, I was booking an igloo. I called before I arrived and asked about the South Patio seating which I was told had the igloo tables. I arrived, dropped my wife off to go get our reservation while I find parking. Keep in mind, I had already circled the restaurant at 5 times to find parking which made me 5 minutes late to my reservation. After finding a parking space, I went to the two hostess and told them who I was, they told me my wife was in the main dining area. A bit confused because my reservation was for the South Patio, I proceeded to find my wife thinking maybe we're there waiting for our igloo to be ready. To my surprise, my wife was told that eventhough we made a reservation for the South Patio, you had to specify an "igloo" table and unfortunately all the igloos were booked. My wife told them we made the reservation but she was told we had to specify in the instructions for an igloo table. There were NO options displayed for an igloo when creating the reservation, you're only asked what area.
How are first-time visitors supposed to know that, if it isn't displayed online or on the reservation?
Not to mention, the two hostess did nothing to try and accommodate us for the confusion. They actually told my wife "there's no option for an igloo you have to type it in the instructions." I was really tempted to leave. Great job on blowing the first impression and this is the reason for...
Read moreThis appropriately named place is full of irieness, modern fusion, and the full potential to be a true Charlotte powerhouse. Hopefully, proper management is available to iron out the wrinkles. Wait-staff is very new but super friendly and accommodating. Service is provided through a partially open kitchen courtesy of food runners. Recommendations are plentiful. l, however, feel as though two entirely different preparations were made with contradictory levels of enthusiasm. Some of the items served were top-notch and obviously made with the utmost consideration, while others were slapped together without any love from their creator. The top brunch namesake benedict was super bland lacking all flavor. No seasonings were added. Maybe that was the point, but I like delicious dishes containing flavor. It reminded me of eating raw ingredients. They served a nice complementary plate with tortillas, salsa, mixed fruit, and cinnamon buns, which was wonderful. $5 spicy bloody's were on point, kudos to the bartender. I've previously enjoyed different themed deviled eggs with mountains of wisdom and creativity poured into them, making the top of the menu slightly lackluster seeming upon arrival. Beignets were served in a brown bag, covered with powdered sugar and piping hot, but different from what I had expected. Can't wait for these guys to get fully opened up and situated so that when I can come back to try out the rest of the menu, I'll be able to give a full 5 stars. The salads and ceviches sound amazing. Everything I've stated here in this review, I brought to my servers' attention, and although I didn't request anything be done, I was not offered any type of compensation for the uneaten order or any replacement food. I guess that leaves me with some belly room to go review another new place. I feel that this is a well named venue, as I am truly in a state of...
Read moreThis spot is still relatively new, so I think they are still working through process... on our visit, the name (state of confusion) represented the experience. We had eaten down the street at Glide. Wanted to check out the spot and have a drink or so. It's 8:45-ish p.m. A party of 6 and one of our party approached the hostess and was informed it would be a 30+min wait to sit upstairs. We asked again about downstairs. Half the tables were empty and most were set. We said we just wanted a drink. Also a 30+ min wait, so we assumed flow control due to staffing. I went back and asked hostess, a different person this time, "can we just go to the bar and get a drink". Response was "sure". Ok, why did we not hear that before. She went on to say there are 3 bars, one behind her, one on the otherside and 1 upstairs. The one on "the other side" was closed...? We go upstairs to the bar and also see the view. None of the tables are occupied. ??? Now, off in the distance is a storm... and one staff member up their said they would be closing upstairs in about 15-20 min because it was headed that way. Time for one drink? Looking at the half empty barstools the bartender said yes. While you could see cloud lightning in the distance, it was 20-25 miles away... looked at the weather radar and it showed the storm dissipating. Another couple sat at bar and ordered food. Bar tender was happy to serve us as very few people were there. She was the highlight of our visit. We were pleased with our beverages and appreciated the beer glass presentation. The storm did not come close to charlotte and we enjoyed the views. We might have had dessert and another round, but thought we would leave the "confusion ". Only a 6 min walk to Lynx, so I'll go back in a couple months and hopefully, things will...
