This review is a little late, but this restaurant is hands down worth the trip! My dad has adopted a plant-based diet the past few months for his health, and our family has enjoyed trying a lot of vegan restaurants in NC. Taste of Soul is located in City Kitch, which houses a variety of kitchens/restaurants. Parking was plentiful but the individual spaces themselves were small, though maybe that’s a Charlotte/city thing. We ordered online and picked up our food inside after letting the app know we had arrived. Table seating inside was a bit tight, but we managed to arrive at a good time where a table/bench was available. As for the food, super delicious! The hallmark was the BBQ Ribbz, the texture and taste of which was almost indistinguishable from the real thing. The Brown Sugar Baked Beans were also one of my favorites, and my parents enjoyed the Sweet Potato Chickpea Curry and the Meatless Spaghetti. The Apple Cider came in huge cups and was very refreshing—so good to wash everything down with! The Sweet Potato Cornbread was possibly my greatest love of all, maybe because we had ordered it as a small side and really didn’t have any expectations? But that tiny, soft, sweet, warm cornbread was the ultimate comfort food in the most unassuming ziplock bag. 😆💖 On the way home, I legitimately regretted not ordering a few more slices to go. 😭 I hope this isn’t a seasonal dish! But those were our favorite dishes! We tried some other items, but the consensus was a bit so-so. The Mac n Cheez had the most perfect texture in terms of pasta/creamy-mouthfeel, but there was something acidic/vinegary about the taste. I’m sure that was meant to mimic the sharpness of real cheese, but it was a bit too strong for my family. The same vinegary taste permeated the Crabless Cake. I’ve read reviews about others genuinely enjoying both the Mac n Cheez and the Crabless Cake, so it may just be personal preference there. I will say though, that the dishes we enjoyed, we REALLY enjoyed, so it could also be dishes overshadowing others by a mile for us. 🙂 Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch at Taste of Soul! I believe we met the owner/chef whenever she brought out our food, and she was very kind and warm. I’m so glad a place like this exists, and I hope we’re able to come back during a future trek to Charlotte. Many wishes for a successful and very Happy New Year! 🥳

There is so many wonderful things to say about this place. For one it’s black owned, the food is incredible, the couple is so sweet. The wife is so tiny and cute, and every encounter we’ve had she was absolutely pleasant. The prices are steep but, I think everything I ate was worth it. All natural plant based products cost more anyways, just as it should. I came multiple days, and ordered multiple things just so I can experience the whole menu. My favorite is the macaroni! It’s tasty, it’s creamy, it even resembles craft macaroni & cheese. The sweet potato corn bread is good, the mushrooms and gravy chefs kiss! The baked beans are my favorite as well. The ribs were incredible they literally imitated a rib. The sliders are good, the Philly cheesesteak JUST WOW! The sausage soup to die for, it even came with grilled cheese. How I know the food was excellent my kids are not vegan how I am, and they ate with me. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the jackfruit I ordered. It’s NOT nasty, just anywhere I go I don’t like it. I can’t get the image of the way it looks out my head, from the can lol. I also tried the bbq wings, NOT nasty, it wasn’t for me. I think I would have eaten it if I got it plain. This woman made magic happen, as if she was someone’s grandmother in the kitchen. The food is so good it should have just been called “gifted hands”. This was such a great experience, and some of the best quality plant based food I’ve tasted in Charlotte NC. My usual is “Love & Action” but this will be my new go to. The best part is she’s friendly, if you smile she smiles. She also took the time to speak to me briefly even being a busy owner. I love it, it’s worth ten stars to me, the prices could go up again and I would still purchase. This is a little gem, and I hope it keeps getting better and Allah blesses them with everything there hearts desire ❤️ Photos are below, some things never made it on camera because I either ate to fast, or brought it for someone else 🥰 Uzuri.

So i paid $64 for this Christmas platter 🤦🏾‍♀️smh. It's literally the size of a plate. I used the red plate to compare the size so yall can get a good idea of what I'm talking about. A plate of food for $64 is DIABOLICAL!! when I went to pick up the plate, I was confused and shocked. Even a lady who picked up food felt the same way. We were literally in shock and disbelief. Now I can understand putting the main entrees in this tinfoil but why not have all of the sides in their own container?. Yall just smashed all of this in one container and each item was literally a spoonful worth of food...for $64!? This is my first time ordering for the holidays, but i will NEVER do it AGAIN! I took this back to raleigh with me so I could have food to eat at my family's. They couldn't believe I paid for that amount of food. My momma said I was scammed😂, and I legit felt scammed, too!

Im a big fan and supporter of this business. I literally followed yall from the green hotel on Independence blvd to the market to where u are now. I brag and boast about your business to everyone. Even when mr.chimetime came to the market and tried the restaurants, I made sure I tagged your restaurant so he could get some good vegan food even though he's not vegan. I'll continue to support on a normal regular day bc that's where u thrive at, but the holidays?..no ma'am!

Edit: thanks for replying back. Yes I did see the size of the container on the website but I know what a 9x9 container look like and my initial thought was ain't no way they're putting all of that food in that small container for $60😂, i thought maybe you was gonna put the main entrees in it and separate the sides but I stand corrected. Your regular day to day plates are worth the price. I would've been better off ordering 2-3 of those plates and saved them for Christmas. Atleast i know I would've gotten a good amount of food on each plate. Also, I posted HERE so people who never ordered on the holiday can get a good idea of what they're getting for the price. I don't need a refund u can keep the money i just won't order again for the holidays that's all. Happy new year and I wish your business the...
