My first experience with Queen City Cheesesteaks (QCCS) was not a good one. I ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak and paid for them to add sweet peppers. I don’t care that that add on only cost .50, it’s the principle - you, as a business, offered a product/good/service and didn’t provide it. Then when it was brought to your attention, you did nothing to correct it immediately. You have no integrity, you have no honor. You entered into a contract by choosing to open a business, and with that contract you agreed to provide a service for a nominal fee. I paid the agreed upon fee, but did not fully receive the service I paid for. You breached the contract. You received payment for goods not rendered, then you refused to make the customer whole.
But people seem to really enjoy your food. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to have that same experience/opportunity. Either this was an off day for you or people are settling and have grown accustomed to mediocrity. I do remember that the man who answered the phone said it had been a busy day. That’s a blessing! But if you want that to continue, perhaps you should devise a method to ensure orders are being made correctly even at peak hours/high volume. Measure twice, cut once.
Pictures are below. At first I thought it was chicken salad because it looked gray, choppy, and lackluster. No peppers, extremely diced onions, and I guess mayo was on it. Didn’t seem fresh, fries were cold (but I attributed that to the delivery time), and the cookies were dry. I will not order again nor will I recommend if asked...
Read moreGood spot that definitely missed the mark. As a lover of all things Philly, decided to swing by and give this place a try. City Kitch definitely has to come up with a better way to distribute the food that was ordered. Understandably operators are busy with food prep but when you get a text that your food is ready and scan the QE code to let the restaurant know you're in the lobby, it shouldn't take an additional 30mins for someone to bring you your food. Luckily in this instance another restaurant owner was gracious enough to hand me my order. But outside of that let's get to the cheesesteak...
I ordered the mambo chicken mushroom cheesesteak and have to say portion size for the price point was definitely impressive. The 6" came absolutely loaded, end to end with meat, cheese and mushrooms. The amoroso bread was fresh and pillowy as a cloud and the mambo sauce added a nice subtle sweetness to the sandwich. The issue is, even with those factors the sandwich was completely bland. Although fresh the sandwich just sweet and plain. Not even the light smear of Dukes mayo was enough to jazz it up. If the chicken was seasoned and there was an option to add sharp provolone with either truffle oil or a truffle based aioli this would truly be the best chicken philly in the city. The potential is definitely there to take Queen City Cheesesteaks into the stratosphere, so I won't give up hope. With a few item adjustments this place could definitely be one...
Read moreI’ve come across the restaurant on IG and wanted to finally try it out.
Let me start by saying the food was DELICIOUS!! Super filling, well seasoned, and they did not skimp on the meat. Worth a visit!! You will not be disappointed!!
Now…here’s where my struggle came. I thought I would be going to a restaurant, like a mom and pop type place with seating. This is not that type of place. The restaurant operates out of a ghost kitchen with 8 other restaurants. If you don’t order online, then you have to order from a wall of tablets, having to select the right restaurant. The location is super small and will be easy to miss if you’ve never been before because it’s in ‘The City Kitchen’. There’s extremely limited seating so your best bet will be to not try to eat there and just get it to go, unless you get lucky enough to get seating at one of the 16 seats they have in the place that houses 9 restaurants. Also, think about the busy hours. Weekends especially. It’s a madhouse. KEEP THAT IN MIND! Order online and just go home.
Despite the far drive, I will...
