HIDDEN GEM. I am bowled over by the culinary creativity and unique flavors this place has to offer. The owner has really created a unique experience in town -- this is not your typical Boba Tea & Rolled Ice Cream shop!
I discovered “Velvet" thanks to Yelp as my husband and I and our friends had just come from a movie date and we were slightly frantic trying to find a place open late on a Tuesday night. We were all so grateful — Velvet is open until 10:30 PM! And yah for outdoor seating, too. The owner didn't rush us whatsoever, even though it was already late when we got there. I even changed my mind about my order and he was super gracious to accommodate me. The customer service here is really over the top. The owner took great care in making each dessert and drink we ordered. Everyone was so pleased!
I am a fan of Rolled Ice Cream and I've been to various places around town. I'm familiar with the mainstays of this type of dessert, but I was feeling adventurous, so I went with "Little Hearts" Rolled Ice Cream as this is the first time I've ever seen Rose Rolled Ice Cream on the menu before. It was so artfully crafted -- almost too beautiful to eat! I would describe it as an elevated dessert experience. For me, it was a symphony of delicate flavor notes with both chewy and airy textures all playing together. I felt so fancy! It was delicious.
It is "Ice cream made with Rose Syrup, Rose Petal Jam, Topped with Whipped Cream, Rose Petals and Little Hearts Biscuits", according to the menu.
I almost went for a couple other Indian flavor offerings I've never seen in a Rolled Ice Cream shop before: Gulab Jamun, (Rolled with Vanilla Base and Gulab Jamun, topped with Gulab Jamun and almonds), or the Paan Ice Cream Roll, (Ice cream base with betel leaves, fennel, rose petal jam, and nuts. Topped with whipped cream, choice of toppings, and choice of syrup). ...An excuse to come back!
For my drink, I was in the mood for a classic... A good ol' fashioned Matcha Latte Boba. It hit the spot! Next time, I may ask to go a little lighter on the ice, but the flavor was great and there were plenty of sweet pearls. For the record, this is the only other place in town I've seen that offers Butterfly Pea Flower drinks, other than Chez Marie in SouthPark. (Iykyk!) I’m in love over here with this place and hope it really takes off. Can’t wait...
Read moreGreat place! Very good teas and ice cream! I recently visited Velvet, a delightful rolled ice cream and boba drink spot, and it was a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was vibrant and fun, perfect for enjoying a sweet treat. I opted for their signature rolled ice cream, choosing a mix of creamy vanilla with fresh strawberries and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Watching the ice cream being made right in front of me was a highlight! The texture was smooth and refreshing, and the flavors were spot on.
I also tried one of their boba drinks—a classic milk tea with tapioca pearls. It was perfectly sweet and had just the right amount of chewiness from the boba. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic, eager to help with recommendations. Overall, Velvet is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious rolled ice cream and unique boba drinks. I can’t wait to go back and explore more flavor...
Read moreI have never found myself to be picky with boba or matcha. However, after trying these drinks from here, I have to leave a one star review. I feel bad because the service is good and this place is quite popular, but I tried 3 different drinks from here (mine and the 2 that my friends ordered) and I didn’t like how any of them tasted. That is extremely unusual for me, as I absolutely love boba and matcha and have gotten those drinks from many different places. I think it is because the drinks are made at Velvet with condensed milk and it just didn’t taste how boba/matcha regularly tastes. I also wasn’t very impressed with the drink options either. I just wanted to provide this review to let people know because I was expecting my boba to taste how it usually does, but I ended up not even having my drink because it tasted off. Velvet personally...
