We visited on Sunday as a family outing. We arrived at 10:10, got our sets and order in by 10:20. 10:35 came around and my youngest (1 year old) lost interest in all the distractions offered, so I took him and my oldest to walk around outside, thinking no more than 5 more minutes. I kept checking in with my husband through the window and still our food had not been served. Then I took the boys to potty, wash hands, and returned by 10:45 and still no food. My husband explained the waitress said there were 2 other checks before us and there was only one waffle maker. I stood there holding my one year old for another 2-3 minutes before our food came out. She came out apologizing and telling me the same thing but by that time I was done with the excuses and blatant lies. Then the deflection that it was Sunday. While standing there, a group of women who arrived 5 minutes after we did, received their order and had already started eating their meals before we even received ours. Here's the kicker. One woman in that group ordered my exact meal which was being blamed for ours food lateness. When the manager came to try and resolve the issue, he only add injury to the insult by calling us a lair. That we had not been there 40 minutes and again with the 1 waffle maker. When he said that, I told him to look at the table beside us and explained they came in and ordered after us. They have their food and she has my same meal. He stubbled over his next words. Because that was no longer an excuse for them. They could not explain why they got four meals that included my same meal before us while we had 2 adult meals and 1 kids meal. When my husband expressed his dislike of his current meal because it was salty, the manager try to say they don't salt their meals, okay... but that did not negate the fact my husband wasn't liking his meal. But after the confrontation and their lie being exposed, he finally said he would take off that meal and give a discount for his next meal and our experience. He came over with no intention of correcting the mistake but to keep the lie going. Here's the kicker, we aren't unreasonable people. Had our ticket been forgotten, or lost... and the upfront honesty and even the compensation of offering a discount in the first place... we would have tipped more and left with feeling like our experience was addressed appropriately. But that is not the case and we will not be visiting this location again. I've worked in the restaurant industry before and know mishaps happen but this was far from great customer experience especially being called a lair multiple times by...
Read moreSorry I can never just write two sentences. That's probably why it took me so long to do this review. So a friend invited me about a month ago for brunch and mimosas. She suprised me a told me it was her birthday and she wanted to spend it in good company. Needless to say I really felt honored. We went there on a Sunday and it was packed and a wait. So because, I researched the place I saved or "reserved" us a spot early when it firsted opened by calling and speaking to someome. It was for 11am I believe. I get there ahead of my friend and I check in. There is a huge wait line. Ok after 15 minutes my friend comes and I am still waiting. So we stand there and catch up for about another 15 minutes. She then tells me it's her birthday so I said let me go and check on our table. So I went to the hostess and explain to her that I called ahead and I am still waiting for 30 minutes and we are Celebrating a birthday. The hostess was nice and explained I can sit you but, the kitchen is a little backed up. I told her that was fine we are starting with drinks anyway. We get seated in a decent area. I like the vibe of the place. Our waitress Miss Lydia was everything!!! She was social, welcoming, attentive and knew the menu well enough to give us some suggestions. My friend had a mimosa and i had a spiked coffee. She enjoyed hers but, my coffee fell a little flat but, that's just my taste buds. I like my drinks strong so i taste what it is i am drinking whether it be coffee or alcohol. So I ordered the lemon ricotta bluberry pancakes with house made sausages and eggs. She had carrot cake pancakes with sausage, home fries and eggs benedict. Food was awesome! I told Miss Lydia I need something stronger seeing how we are celebrating. She suggested shots and I was not mad lol. And the shots was definately what we needed. We had such a great time overall. My friend asked for seprate checks but, I snatched it quick and went up front to settle up our great birthday celebration. I...
Read moreAnother Broken Egg originally started out as as the Broken Egg Cafe in Mandeville, Louisiana back in 1996 and has grown steadily across the country ever since. We rarely pass up an opportunity to check out a new restaurant so we made our reservations and were on our way.
We started breakfast with the Baked Brie Delight with Apples, pecans & raisins sautéed in a Grand Marnier butter sauce over warm Brie cheese with toasted French bread. This was definitely the best part of our breakfast. The cheese was perfectly warm, soft. and gooey while the sautéed apples added the perfect amount of sweetness to balance the salty cheese. I usually see baked brie wrapped in puff pastry, but serving this dish with toasted bread added a crunch to the dish that really made it stand out.
We started with the Belgian Waffle with strawberries and bananas with a side of eggs and bacon. The waffle was delicious, but I have not had many waffles that are not. The strawberries and bananas were fresh and added a touch of fruitiness to a sticky sweet dish. The part that really stood out was the bacon. It was nice and thick and full of flavor.
I decided to step way out of my comfort zone and get the Benedict Oscar with Grilled flat iron steak, two poached eggs topped with garlic sautéed crabmeat & asparagus with Béarnaise. I hate seafood... and I'm not very keen on asparagus, but despite those shortcomings I really enjoyed this plate. It did seem a little heavy for a breakfast plate but the flat iron steak and and sautéed crabmeat were absolutely delicious. The only thing I didn't particularly enjoy were the side lack luster side of squishy potatoes.
Another Broken Egg is a tremendous step above the average breakfast restaurants. The food was incredibly fresh and the menu was diverse without being overbearing. Its not a good spot if you're in a hurry but if you want to kick back and relax while eating something delicious first thing in the morning then Another Broken Egg is a good spot...
