York Crossing Restaurant — Restaurant in Charlotte

Something has changed since about Dec 2018. This place was a 5-star rating for a long time but things appear to be changing. We usually order from here once a week. Around December, we noticed frequent inaccurate orders when they were always so precise. Then around January, the hours of operation were reduced drastically, closing at 4pm on Mon & Tue. That should have been my clue that business was declining since this place is always so busy. In February, we noticed reduced food presentation a number of times, as well as, decrease in telephone mannerisms when placing our order. Then we noticed that our price totals were increasing. At first we didn't pay it any attention but the last straw was when we paid $26 for 3 meals that we normally would have paid about $18 for. There is an upcharge for onion rings. My last order of onion rings were cold and tasted like fish, so much so that I had to go back to the restaurant to return them. That was the first ever! When I spoke to the counter clerk, she said that she could make me some more but they will still be fried in the same oil. When I asked for french fries instead, she said that they, too, would probably come out tasting like fish. We've always ordered french fries or onion rings from this place and never have they been cold or tasted like a meat. She then tried to short-change me a refund for just the onion rings. Food and service are declining too much for us to eat here again. Such a shame as this was one of our favorite go-tos especially because of the affordable price. But cutting corners makes you wonder where else they may be...

I was at a store in the same strip as this restaurant and decided to give them a try. I was greeted in a professional and welcoming manner, so that was a plus. The restaurant had tables, should you desire to stay there and eat. It was clean for the most part, from what I could tell, having left my glasses in the car.

I asked a couple of questions and then placed my order. It didn't take long for my food to come out. The food smelled absolutely amazing. I got the food home and started tasting everything I purchased in the pictures below. Personally, I did not care for the vast majority of the meals. The fish & chicken were so hard and dry that they were like the Sahara Desert. It was flavorless, as were the vegetables. They tasted like they were fresh out of the can. I won't be going back there again, but if I did, it would only be for the mac & cheese, potato salad, and the roll. The food here is cooked with very poor quality, and when your order is ready it will sit on the counter for several minutes if you don’t say “hey is that my order?” Even though there’s 3 people taking orders and cashing people out, there’s only me person bagging the food while the others stand in front of the plates sitting on counter waiting to get bagged. They are also swindling people out of money because their lemonade & fruit punch drinks are disgusting because it’s basically flavored water…I wouldn’t eat from this place again even if they offered me free food for life! I see a few other reviews mention their reasonable prices, my Grandfather used to always say “nothing cheap is good, and nothing good is cheap…” ponder that...
