Will definitely come back! Finished our plates even though the portions were enough for smaller individuals like ourselves to have leftovers.
Had never heard of the place, only seen it when driving by. Decided to give it a try on a whim when the BBQ bug hit us. Walked into an empty (it was before normal dinner hours), clean and well-branded place and immediately greeted by a friendly guy who took our orders. He knew his stuff and explained what you get with platters. Very helpful. He turned out to be the manager. We had a very enjoyable conversation the entire time we were there. I left with the understanding that he cares greatly about service and his food, and his passion is undeniable. It's not everyday you come across someone so outwardly passionate about their profession; I instantly felt inspired to support this company and give them regular business.
But the food! Came out in good time. I had a pulled pork platter that came with a bun and hush puppies and chose a side of baked beans. Clearly everything was made in-house (except the bun). The baked beans were excellent. I personally enjoyed them on a homemade chip with the mustard sauce drizzle. The pulled pork was slightly dry, which I personally do not mind because it was very flavorful and nicely textured to eat alone. The chips are good, but nothing to write home about. The hush puppies were simple but very well executed; could munch on those all day.
The sauces are each great. The Red Hub and the Bourbon Heat are favs. I'd stock my fridge with these.
My husband got the BBQ sundae which felt somewhat nostalgic of Belmont BBQ's slop bucket. Since they're no longer around, I'd love to see Red Hub recreate it to include a cheesy addition. He had nothing but good things to say...
Read moreRaised on North Carolina barbecue I am picky...no thick or sweet sauce for me. I have tried others in Charlottesville but just not what I like. I googled North Carolina barbecue and found Red Hub Food Company. My husband and I wanted barbecue for New Years Day so we thought we would stop by and check it out. The cook and server, GiGi and Shay ( I hope I have their names right) were very attentive, making sure that everything was perfection and as it was a slow time of day, we were able to have great conversation with them. The barbecue was delicious, and they have several versions of sauces to meet most taste; however, I used the Lexington that gave me the vinegar taste I love. I had a “sundae” which was a jar layered with baked beans, cole slaw, and barbecue. We had chicken and Mac and cheese, and my husband had the rib sandwich. All Southern, all delicious! We asked if they were open New Years Eve, as I did want to get a pound for our New Years Day tradition. They were not but Shay offered to meet us there so that we could pick up ‘cold’. Not to put her out, we took a pound with us so we are set for New Years Day. The offer did not go unnoticed though...very sweet of her. We will definitely be back. And for GiGi and Shay, we feel like we have...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing not only the food but the owners. At the last minute when my first caterer fell through I reached out to Red Hub and they immediately came to my rescue for my Moms Celebration of Life. The food was delivered by the nicest man he set everything up beautifully as he was leaving I said hey I still need to pay you for this, he’s responds made me realize there are still caring people in the world “ mom said due to the circumstances of today’s event she didn’t want to trouble you with a bill she will send it in a few days” he brought me to tears. How amazing is this family when they put emotion above the dollar. They say God works in mysterious ways and he lead me to this amazing business. I will never forget them and from this point on will always be my go to catering service.
Not to mention their sauce were delicious and I will be contacting today for more as out of state family...
