I don’t think I will come back. First impressions mean a lot and ours was not positive. Upon checking in to the hotel I had the impression that I was a door to door vinyl siding salesman interrupting dinner. In fact I was interrupting dinner because the receptionist was eating microwaved pasta at her computer screen while checking us in. While she was not verbally mean - mostly because she didn’t say much- but she had no interest in welcoming us to the hotel. Having booked a suite in advance we were given the handicap accessible room- which is great if you have such needs - but awkward if you don’t. Our request to change rooms came when she was must have just reheated her pasta because there was little enthusiasm in making our change. Finally, the bathrooms- just sad. Caulking around toilet, loose shower handles and why put shower supplies right next to shower head, making small shower even smaller? If you want a Marriott chain hotel stay across street at Draftsman.

Perfect location for a person that has business at the university or the medical center. The rooms are clean and updated. The pull-out bed is much better than 99% of the ones you see in most hotels. Rooms have microwaves, coffee makers, tvs, fridge, and plenty of outlets to charge your electronics. The staff has always been top notch. On the down side, if your room is an even number, your window might face the parking garage. There is no fan in the bathroom, meaning any smells will either linger in the closed bathroom room, or air out into the entire room. No bueno. The gym is okay for a night, but needs more equipment if you are on an extended stay. Mini-fridges don't have a freezer portion, which again, only matters if you are staying longer than one night.

Very convenient location and good value overall. The rooms can be a bit noisy and half lights in the night, which didn’t disturb me for might do for others. Having parking garage is also convenient, but be advised that getting in can be difficult because of the location of the card reader. The staff is very friendly, but can get overwhelmed fast (I asked the front lobby to help me printing, a parking pass, and they were very confused, so they just send me to the business center that had ink missing in one of the two printers). Still living a five star review, because I think it matches with the courtyard’s expectations. For the hotel’s staff: consider fine-tuning those details, which can make a big difference on someone‘s stay.

I was in Charlottesville for a Army course at the JAG School located on UVA campus. The course was from 10 - 15 October. As a government employee, our travel had to be booked through DTS (Defense Travel System). Myself and another attorney booked our stay at the Courtyard Charlottesville- University Medical Center because it honored the government rate of $126 per night throughout the duration of our stay. When myself and the other attorney arrived, we let the front desk know that we carpooled and therefore only had one car. The front desk representative stated that she would only put the parking charge on one room. During the duration of our stay, housekeeping did not come once, until Friday when I specifically asked. The conditioner and body wash was out in my bathroom and although I asked on Wednesday to have housekeeping please replenish it during their rounds, they did not come that day so I went to the front desk myself to get it replenished. The worst part is that because the other attorney and myself had to get to DC to fly out by 7 am Saturday morning, we asked the front desk lady on Friday night to please email us a copy of our bill since we would be leaving so early. We both provided our emails. Since we did not receive a copy by Monday, we both called and asked to have the bills sent to us. Once we received the bills, both of us had a charge for Friday night of $999. Clearly, given the alarming nature of this charge, we both called the hotel immediately and questioned and disputed the charge. Mary at the front desk she spoke to her front desk manager, Ashley Rasnake, who said it was "because the hotel was sold out" and that "the best they could do was reduce it to $399," which was clearly still a significant business violation. I called and left the manager, Ashley Rasnake, a message, and she never called me back. Both myself and the other attorney followed up with a detailed email, to which Ashley responded the next day stating "I'd be happy to look into this for you, please send a confirmation number of the government rate." without even remotely acknowledging or apologizing for the insane amount of money charged for the final night. I'm appalled this isn't a matter of urgency where the manager can't call us back directly to deal with this issue, and raises serious concerns regarding if this is normal practice for the hotel. Additionally, both myself and the other attorney were both charged for parking, even though we both explicitly said we only had one car and the check in attendant told us only one person would be charged. I'm sickened by the fact that charging $999 for a night without our consent or even knowledge, let alone the sheer amount in and of itself, is something this hotel would do, and then to know that this doesn't warrant a call back from the manager immediately is...

I arrived at 3pm on Wednesday June 7th. As I was walking away and to my room I happened to notice a small sign on the front counter that stated due to a service being performed to flush the water system there would be no water in the entire hotel from earlier that morning until 5pm in the evening. I asked the front desk clerk if this was accurate, as I was very surprised to learn of something this significant and she confirmed that's what they've been told by management. I was also surprised as this was not something she mentioned during the check-in process. Quite a significant issue to gloss over. Because it seemed like the most I would go without water in my room would be about two hours I decided to brush it off and hope for the best.

I went downstairs to the tiny workout room and went for a run, grabbed something small to eat and headed back upstairs to get ready for the welcome reception my conference organized that evening. 5pm no water. 5:30, nothing. 5:45 I headed downstairs to politely ask the front desk clerk if she had heard any updates. She stated management said that it was going to be longer than they expected, but that's all they told her. At this point I'm thirsty, need to go to the bathroom and needed to shower for my reception.

After several loud squealing noises and large amounts of brown goop flowing from my faucets I determined that I was not going to make it to my reception, seeing that I was not presentable after a long workout without any water to attempt to cleanse myself. In fact, it was not until 9:15pm that my water was turned on and usable (I think) in my room.

On top of having no running water for several hours to drink, bath or use the restroom (others must have been without it ALL DAY and NIGHT, I received no information from any hotel staff. Not one phone call let alone an apology.

There are many, many hotel options for the thousands of visitors that arrive each week. I CHOSE your Marriott. I was not in a developing part of the world where sanitary conditions can sometimes be questionable. There was no natural or other form of disaster during my stay. To say that a highly rated, exclusive hotel like the Marriot would handle a sanitation issue like having no running water for nearly an entire day without a communication plan or reimbursement policy is absolutely...

I choose this hotel for the good reputation they have and offered to guests. The arrival and check in was great the guy from the front desk treated us very nice and welcoming. ||||Me and my friend travel from NYC and the nightmare started after I wake up in the morning and walked to my car I found my wallet with cash and 3 purse was missing I went to the front desk to explain the situation and the treatment from the assistant manager was careles. ||||his answer was they don’t have cameras in the parking area and he can’t do anything about it, after that I went to the police department to report the situation and specifically because I lost my identification, registration and insurance from the car.|||| I also have an app in my phone that shows me that someone open my car twice at 7:12am and at 7:27am and I was sleeping at that time the crazy part is I don’t know how the opened and even if I left my car open the car will lock automatically. ||||I went back to the hotel after filling the police report to talk to the assistant manager again and to show him the notification on my phone and again he was annoyed about it He told me he is going to check the cameras around the parking area and he is going to call me to let me know if he sees anything suspicious and he also offered me a refund for one night at the hotel. ||||I was waiting from his call and he never reached me to provide me any information. The next day we checked out in the morning and he didn’t even refund the night he also offered me. he was not there at that time so I asked to speak with a manager the manager from the front desk was very helpful and understanding they told me the did check the cameras but the couldn’t found anything. ||||She also helps me with the refund and she also refunded the 2 night from the parking spot . Another thing why they are charging an extra fee of 10$ per night for a parking spot and your car and your items are not going to be safe?? This is inside and also telling me that they used to have cameras but they have to remove them because they had a lawsuit. Seriously!?!? I went there so happy and excited and I left with a bitterness and sad feeling because the items that I lost were very...
