Woodland Bakery — Restaurant in Chatham Township

My family and I always used to love this bakery due to my severe peanut allergy. That being said, the fact that it is no longer peanut free is disappointing to say the least. I have a pretty large family and we would always order from Woodland for each birthday (about 14 cakes per year) and I would often stop in on my way home from class for a cupcake or cookie. It is a shame that they could not remain peanut free. In addition, over the last few years or so we noticed a drastic decline in quality. The cases are never fully stocked and Woodland discontinued several good items like red velvet cupcakes. The goods available were stale. In general this bakery has been going downhill since ownership changed, and the latest change regarding peanut allergies certainly has not helped.

EDIT (5/23/17): I certainly do not "hate" your bakery, and I apologize if I gave you that impression. Thank you for taking the time to explain to me the reasons behind your decision. I would have called to discuss this had it not been for the fact that I visited your bakery back in October and told an employee how glad I was that you were peanut safe to which she responded, "thank you". That probably would have been a good opportunity to alert me to the change in person, which she blatantly failed to do. We found Woodland Bakery online and ordered a Coconut Lemon cake from them for a birthday party we were throwing. I didn't have time to stop into the bakery to order the cake, so I ordered over the phone. Every staff member I spoke with at Woodland Bakery over the phone was very kind, patient and professional. They described the cake to me beautifully and I felt confident ordering the cake over the phone from a bakery I haven't seen. We picked the cake up and it was BEAUTIFUL! The cake was absolutely perfect! Then the real test came when us and all our guests ate the cake. The cake was SO GOOD that we hardly had any leftover. Purchased a cannoli cake for my daughter's birthday yesterday and couldn't have been more disappointed. It tasted like an entire bottle of orange extract was dumped into it and the cannoli filling was gritty and unpleasant. It was so bad that when the waiter brought the cake back to our table after serving it to us, I told him to please just throw it away.
