Hey Joe and Jam — Restaurant in Chatham

I really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere and ambiance are great. But there are two things that just kinda suck.

1. No WiFi. I get that they want to promote human connection, but to not have it at all at a coffee place is just kinda lame in my opinion. Well, I mean, they obviously have it, they just won’t let you access it.

2. I stopped in for a little fuel while I was out for a run and asked for a cup of water as well (it was pretty obvious I’d been running), and I was told I could purchase it from the cooler. When I clarified, “I can’t just have some tap water?” The response I got was,“Unfortunately not”. That just was so weird to me. I’ve never been denied tap water. I guess I could have filled my empty cup in the bathroom once I’d finished, but I was just thirsty.

I’m really bummed bc I don’t think I’ll go back. It really is a cool spot. I’d been in a few times since it’s close to my house. The coffee and matcha are great. And they have yummy baked things. Absolutely loved our visit to this new spot in Chatham! The decor, the vibe, the little bits of whimsy thoughtfully placed around the shop…it was all so comforting and fun. Our group tried the homemade biscuit with clotted cream and jam, the homemade strawberry poptart, the gluten-free scone, and the breakfast sandwiches. Everything was delicious and all said they’d reorder their item. They’re not open every day of the week, so make sure to check their open hours before going. This spot s handicap accessible and their bathroom is huge. Wheelchair users will have no issues...

Saw 3 tie dye shirts and 1 Yardbirds concert sweatshirt. That plus the Jimi Hendricks picture on the wall made my inner hippy feel quite at home. The pastries are great and boy do they do jam! Coffee quite good. They don't have water available so if you want water with your espresso (my Italian friends insist) you have to buy a bottle. The staff was very nice but the poor kid at the cash register was pretty befuddled..too early for a toke but we did wonder. Big open space..not a lot of seating but most folks were take out. A set up for music so might be fun...
