I have been going to Boccaccia for 5 years and until today I would have recommended it and had recommended it to everyone I knew. I was severely disappointed tonight in their service, hospitality, staff, and food. To begin with I had a reservation at 5:30 and we did not receive bread until 6:15 and our food did not come out until 7:10. I had also brought my grandmother and father to my favorite Italian restaurant in town to treat them for their birthday which is tomorrow. Boccaccia has always honored birthday meals the day before and after if they are closed on your birthday. Today, not so much. They recently changed their policy to the day after only. I asked to speak with a manager because when I called to make my reservation on Wednesday the man taking reservations said I could choose between Saturday and Monday and they would receive the birthday meal. The manager, maybe owner, female, came to the table and would have nothing to do with what I said and told me I was mistaken but that they would bring them a free dessert. Whatever, we had already been there for over 30 minutes having ordered and no sign of food. When our food finally came over an hour later my father's meal had a hair in it. We politely asked for a new plate of food, they brought us one quickly, but also felt the need to mention that they didn't have a cook with long hair. So basically we put it there. No one in my group had long black hair. The food was fine. Dessert took forever again and came out as small portions and sloppy. The real kicker of the evening was that we were charged for every meal (including the hairy one) and both desserts. I am so disappointed and upset over the service we had tonight that I find it highly unlikely we will ever go again and I will surely not be recommending them to friends or family anymore. I wish everyone better service than what my family received tonight because all we received was disrespect and...
Read moreSo I went for my birthday dinner. They were nice to push the reservation 2 days because of the cold weather which was great. Now we went in when they opened. There was a reservation for 530. We were there a way before our reservation we went in to be sit down. Our waiter was okay, but he was also busy. It seemed like the entire time on the phone and trying to run orders and trying to seat people. Along with the one other server that I saw. There was another guy that seemed like he was trying to do the bar and the kitchen on his own. And they were also still accepting people walking in without a reservation. We had to ask for more bread. We never got more water. Our table was tinded when the food came out and maybe one other time to ask if everything was O k, but otherwise we had to ask for things or you couldn't even ask for things or tell things to them because they were so busy with everyone else that nothing got tended to. Now the atmosphere was great. The food was amazing. I'm gonna put some pictures below. The only thing that was lacking for me was the service. Now the server was very nice and the other server helped him out as well. But either they didn't have enough help. Or they were accepting too many customers with too little weight staff. I understand that everyone is understaffed and people are calling in. People are doing this and doing that but again. I don't know if it's because of the owners or being able to afford it or what. But the service was slightly lacking compared to what I would think would be for a high upscale. Italian restaurant like this place advertises itself. To being said, the food was amazing. Yeah, my sphere is great. The service could have...
Read moreI could almost give Boccaccia 3 stars for the fresh pasta and creme brulee but the rest was so sub standard and the value so poor, I could have equally given a 1. The restaurant was about 1/3rd full, so our party was seated quickly. 15 minutes later, we met our waitress and she left so fast after we gave drink orders, we couldn't give her our appetizer orders. We had to wait another 15 minutes to order appetizers. So, we also ordered our entrees as the place was filling up, there was no telling when she'd show up again. The carpaccio and misto plate came out quickly and were very good. But, good things don't always come to those who wait...about 1 hour later the entrees arrived. They weren't even palatable and little care was given to presentation. The quality of the veal and chicken was shameful. Tough rubber! The sauces tasted like they were out of a squeeze bottle from Aldi's. The lasagna noodles were excellent but I think they sourced the beef from Taco Bell. I'm not joking. For an encore, our waitress took our creme brulee order and then disappeared so fast we couldn't even order lattes. To cap it off, the bill was about $75 per person. The gap between price, food quality, and service makes Boccaccia amongst the worst I've ever experienced...which is actually impressive on its own. If not for the few redeeming points I mentioned, I could have landed at 1 star. With so many quality Italian joints in Chattanooga, I don't see any reason to go...
