I thought all day about how to write this review because I didn't know where to start. Amongst other minor things, my main complaint/rant is as follows: I noticed the owner (or who I assume es the owner) and his wife sitting in a middle table with a little girl maybe about 3years old. After a few minutes of me waiting peacefully and enjoying chips and salsa, the little girl approached me and proceeded to sit in the booth with me. I'm a little taken back because I look up and I see her parents/owners seeing it and giggling as if it is cute. Mind you, child is adorable, however I don't know how I feel about someone else's child who I don't know sit with me without my consent. The woman kind of gets on to her like "stop come here" but really does nothing to remove her. So I say hi to the little girl and out of courtesy spark a little conversation with her like hi, how are you etc. The parents just let her stay there and she begins to eat my chips. As they are bringing my food to my table, the mother says something like "oh no" and I'm confused bc I don't know what is happening. Then she says "she's going to try to eat your food". I laugh in disbelief thinking she's joking but sure enough, as soon as the plate touches the table, her little fingers cross over into my plate and she snatches my cucumbers. The mom then proceeds to "get onto her" and brings her her own cucumbers at my table. I'm so confused and I just tell the little girl, obviously sounding upset but being polite "it's ok, just eat my cucumbers". I mean she had already had her hands on them. As a matter of fact she already had one in her mouth. So in disbelief, embarrassed, shocked... I sit there and eat my tacos which luckily were not touched by the little girl. This whole time the man (dad/owner) keep looking over like thinking the situation is cute. I quietly finished and stood up to pay (btw the entire time, I did not have the waitress come to me not once to ask me if I needed anything, etc.) I stood there while the owner gives a cashier change for a 100 bill. Then out of nowhere a man comes beside me and they take his payment first. By this time I am frustrated but I keep my cool. So I stand there. And a second cashier comes and instead of taking MY payment she asks another man, who had JUST walked up there if she can check him out. I looked at her in disbelief and said "UHM, CAN YOJ TAKE MY PAYMENT FIRST?! I've been standing here and I really have to get going", to which she explains that the other girl was supposed to take my payment. I said I don't care really who takes my payment, I've just been standing there and I have to go. The owner and his wife were right behind me as I paid. My hands were shaking of anger and shock that they were just going to let me pay for my whole ticket, without even apologizing for their daughter *eating chips out of my basket, *putting her hands IN MY PLATE, *eating food out of my plate and everything mentioned above. Then they hand me the ticket to sign since I paid FULL PRICE with a card and I was angry so I put a big bold ZERO in the tip line and I still got a eye roll because I didn't leave any tip. It was a terrible way to spend my lunch. The food itself was OK, not bad but eh. tortillas for the taco were the prepackaged tortillas, I love to go to taquerias that are branded authentic and have hand made tortillas. The service was not that good. And I was SHOCKED BEYOND BELIEF at how the owners had zero control over the situation with their daughter and zero concern for the client in that situation who was just there to enjoy lunch. I think I opted to keep calm and not react at the moment out of respect for a little girl who didn't know any better. But you would think the parents/OWNERS OF THE ESTABLISHMENT should have known and done better. Never had such a bad experience in any restaurant period. I'm a good tipper. I tip even when the service is not exceptional. In this case a big fat zero and...
Read moreTonight on 03/16/2020, I called in at about 8:30pm and mentioned a few times I only want two $6.00 carne asada burritos with only carne asada. Nothing else on both. After I got them home, only one was correct while the other burrito had everything on it. How can a place mess up such a simple order when I said it at least 3 times that I want both with only carne asada (meat).
I messaged the taco shop tonight since they are already closed and waiting to see if they respond.
What makes it so crazy, is that I was the only customer in the entire place at that time because they close at 9pm.
Update: 03/18/2020 Went back today to order what I tried to order last time and emphasized they messed up last time. The order came out correct this time, unfortunately the owner could care less so long as they make money and back in San Diego, Ca., every taco shop/mexican restaurant that messes up your order replaces your order free. Do not expect...
Read moreThis is a pretty authentic Mexican style restaurant with its Ambience, music and people. Don't be scared by First Impressions and looks as it is in a halfway shut it looks like it's about to fall apart but the food is far from that.
1 disturbing American trait that many people hate is that there are not free refills, however, the portion that they give you is more than enough and a huge Styrofoam cup with authentic taste inside.
I ordered the mini quesadilla and it was definitely a decent portion almost enough for two to split. It was very tasty and had a different feel and flavor to it than franchise restaurants around. If you are shopping for quite some time at this flea market this is definitely a good place to drop by and even if you do not want to deal with the flea market at all this would be a good lunch or breakfast or brunch option.
In the colder months definitely bring a jacket as the inside and outside are all kind of different and open for Breeze ways to catch you. Have fun and...
