Typhoon of Tokyo — Restaurant in Chattanooga

I have absolutely no clue how this place has high stars! Our one (and only!) visit was a total disaster. It was Monday evening at 5:25, 3 other tables with diners eating. Waitress approached and seemed to be completely unenthused with life or job or both... Took minutes to get drinks. We ordered. I specifically asked if they had something, waitress had to ask and said yes to order #5. Okay. "Soup" on the menu is just extremely watery broth with zero flavor. They gave us white sauce and nothing for which to use it on... Pointless? 30 mins after ordering the food comes and they gave me the same thing my husband ordered (#8). I was over it. After 30 mins I got something completely different than I ordered. Sent it back and my husband got a to-go box. I walked out. He went to the counter to pay where he was argued with about the bill because our waitress didn't alert anyone to the issue then placed the bill on the table even though my husband was clearly standing at the counter. Not sure how anyone can be this oblivious!!! It took him over 5 minutes arguing with them to get my untouched dish removed. We will never return to this place!

Disappointing. Teriyaki chicken from the mall food court is significantly better. The chicken was poor quality compared to my go to hibachi place. It was greasy, rubbery and had too much gristle for my liking. The dishes I ordered (Garlic chicken with fried rice, and Teriyaki chicken with noodles) were greatly lacking in flavor, but the flavor that was there was unpleasant. I was hungry and really wanted to enjoy my meal, but couldn't stomach it. Ended up throwing it away. My cat was not even interested. Maybe they were having an off day, but based on my experience, I don't understand how this place is rated so highly. Will be sticking with SoHo in Hixson for my hibachi needs. I decided to give Typhoon of Tokyo a try based on the positive reviews and being close to home. Never again... I usually don't leave reviews, but felt the need to in this case. Hope this helps other diners looking for 'the best hibachi in town" to make an informed decision. At the end of the day, you don't know until you know. If you choose to give Typhoon a try, I truly hope your experience is better than mine...

I absolutely love this place. I always order from dinner delivered so I dont dine in, but the order is always correct and is the perfect temperature and everything. Their egg rolls always come good and crispy, their imperial dinner (steak, chicken and shrimp)(I get it with double soy sauce) is always spot on. And the portion sizes are very large so I get to enjoy it for at least a day or two. Flavors are fantastic and the food never disappoints. We used to struggle to decide what to order but now there is no question. We always order from here and its always amazing. Only thing I've ever had that I didnt care for was the chicken broth that comes with the combo. But I ordered that on accident anyway so I never normally get it.
