For Chris, Thanks for your thoughtful response to my review of your restaurant. I have reworked review. Ran out of room, so rest of comments here vs restaurant. Review. I do not aim for a "tasteless" review but unbiased helpful information for a traveler/restaurant customer. My reviews have been read over half a million times over various platforms so they seem to have value for my target audience. I understand that honesty can be brutal. You need feedback from knowledgeable critics not comments from friends or neophytes if you want to be successful. Feedback. You are mistaken if you think a customer will go over problems with their experience while having a meal with friends. Most will politely accept things as they are and not return. Of my 5 guest, 4 said they would probably not return to your restaurant.
Volume. You mentioned 21 ticket orders for lunch which you considered busy, (Friday should be your busiest lunch of the week) and that you are not a wealthy investor. With your lease, a lot of floor space, you have a significant fixed cost, a big financial burden. Analyzing your variable costs, food, labor ,etc., (As a retired CPA who has done numerous cost analysis) I know that significate volume will be needed to break even and make a profit. Do you understand why other restaurants have failed in you location? So I do not understand your willingness to turn away business, ("We open at 12...for our convenience").
Excuses. You offer excuses for not being up to standard: Soft opening, (you have been open for a few weeks now), most restaurants have a one week shakeout period. Servers who are" FOH", (I think that means friends?) so more focused on their buddy than the customer. When I worked in a restaurant, and 4 of my children have also, that would not have been tolerated, if you are not moving, your are watching the tables. You are not a chain-well customers don't care. Competition. Have you eaten at and studied your competition, I mean for a customer who is willing to drive to a restaurant for Thai food? Places like Sweet Basil and Rain. If you have not, you need to and be objective about the food and service compared to your own. P.F. Chang's (a chain and I don't care, its about the service and food) has added some Thai items to their menu. They all have plenty of free parking and you don't. Little local places are not your competition, you have too much floor space and overhead. Food. "our way of cooking does not satisfy everybody" You don't need to satisfy everyone, but you do, do need to satisfy most, Meet most people's expectations of what a dish should be. 6 out of 6 though the stir fry was strange and unexpected. Atmosphere. The mural was visually dramatic. Any additional art should be well thought out and equally large and dramatic to balance out the painting but put art on back burner. More important to fix lack of Sign and the dirty poorly organized menu. On your menu Emphasize your specialty, something you do really well and everyone likes. Consider a lunch vs dinner menu and price accordingly. Flatware dysfunctional for dealing with large chunks of vegetables. Cut veggies smaller or add a knife. What worked for a truck will not necessary work for this expensive space. P.S. Have many friends who live at one north shore, a few have gotten their take out orders screwed up. ...
Read moreIm so sorry it was a mistake on Google. They posted the wrong name, not their first time doing that. It's very hard to correct. But asap, they will be working on the mistake. Im not one to give false information on places i haven't frequent . It's called Moh Mohs Laos- Thai Cuisine. Once she reganize you and sees that you truly enjoy her cultures food, She opens up . This was my second visit, and the closest she is to me is 30 minutes away from Chattanooga . It's the food truck park it is off of Main and Williams behind Clyde's . She is there from 11:am til 8:00 pm , Thursday, Friday , and Saturday's. When recording, it said it only posted 30 seconds of footage, but yes, this is a great get and run area . You can eat on site at the picnic tables while you wait, and all week, it's different food trucks. Her spring rolls are wonderful. I would be warm heart to attend the food truck park on a date or...
Read moreSaw a food truck out of the corner of my eye while driving down Dayton Blvd one day and it ended up being a pleasant surprise.
We ordered a Pad Thai and a Thai Fried Rice, both mild (just to be safe) and with shrimp and they were both delicious. Don't expect it to be quick because the food is made fresh and to order. Located on the lot of an old car mechanic shop, there's plenty of space to park and wait. It was definitely worth it.
Based on their Facebook page that their location on Dayton Blvd and Merriman Ave is a semi-permanent residence so I'll be sure to keep an eye out next time I'm in the area. I'll also be sure to crank up the heat next...
