We wanted to try this new place for lunch take out today. I am sorry to say this place is not worth the beautiful renovation. It looks appealing, it has curb appeal and all that jazz. The inside is rustic cozy with what looks like a full bar and several townies already bellied up to the bar. Got two sandwiches and an order of wings. Their menu is small and to the point, but because of this, you would think their minimal choices would be outstanding since they have all the time in the world to perfect those few things: wings, nachos, pizza, sandwich. BLT: one piece of bacon. After one bite, thought it was odd all I got was lettuce and bacon, opening it up to find one lonely piece. Cool. $10 "artisan" sandwich. Tuna Salad: heavily dressed with too much tang in the flavor. still probably the best thing we got. wings: oh dear lord, no. These are dry, leaving your mouth full of cotton and wanted anything to drink...
The limited staff I dealt with checking out and calling into was very friendly and professional. I just would have thought this style of place would produce good food and not just have the artisan price. Does not deserve 2 stars for food, but the staff was great and hardworking and the place is really cool...
Read moreStopped by Max and Leo’s in Chelmsford on a Friday night with a friend, and wow, this place delivers (and I don’t mean just takeout). We rolled in around 7pm and the place was absolutely packed. Like, sardines-in-a-can packed. Somehow, we scored the last two seats at the bar, kinda felt like winning the pizza lottery.
We kicked things off with a couple Fiddleheads to get the night started, then I moved on to a Bissell Brothers Substance (smooth and hoppy), while my buddy went for the Wachusett Blueberry (yes, it actually smells like blueberries, and yes, it’s awesome). All the beers were ice cold and just hit right with the food.
Speaking of food: we split Jero’s Pineapple Pizza and the Loaded Fries. I know pineapple on pizza can be divisive, but trust me, this one’s a game-changer. Sweet, savory, spicy , just the right amount of char on the crust... it disappeared fast. The loaded fries were next level too, crispy, cheesy, bacony goodness. Zero regrets.
If you’re looking for a fun, buzzing spot with killer pizza, great beer, and a vibe that makes you feel like you’re in on something special, Max and Leo’s is the move. Just get there early or be ready to stalk a...
Read moreI have never felt so un-welcome in my life. If you are anything but "white" stay out of this place because they will look down on you. Let's start by the service- I asked the waitress if they had any white based sauce pizza's and she said no. When I looked at the menu "The Brooksy" was exactly what I was looking for. Then there was the manager- he held conversations throughout the establishment with other patrons and avoided my mom, daughter, and I at all cost. The white men sitting next to us who the manager held a conversation for an extended period of time then asked me to turn down my toddlers ipad. I told the man that, he saw me struggling with her as she is only 2 years old and I was educating her on her manners but it's a little difficult dealing with a 2 year. He proceeded to waive his hands and rolled his eyes. The manager did nothing about this un-necessary behavior. The food was bland and I did not care for it 1 bit. We boxed it up and tipped 20% which is more than fair given the horrendous experience. I will never again step foot in this establishment. Go to Brickhouse Pizza around the corner, way better food, service, and...
