This new restaurant has become super popular in just the short time it's been opened (since September 2017). We had to wait about 30 min for a table and they do have some benches in the lobby to sit on, but they were full and the lobby was elbow to elbow. There is a huge chalk wall to entertain yourself with while you wait. They are quick to welcome you and add you to a wait to be seated list. All of the employees were super friendly and I love their support of Eastern Washington University! Once we were seated we were given menus right away and asked for our drink order. I love the menu and the options! Almost all of the breakfast items come with several choices so you can customize your meal. They also serve lunch but we were here for breakfast so I didn't pay too much attention to the lunch menu. When our food came 2 out 3 of the meals were served to us by accident. They quickly took them back and apologized and soon our food we ordered came out. It was hot and fresh. Sadly, the main part of my dish was never served and they did offer to make it and bring it but by this time my 2 companions were done eating and we needed to get on the road back to Seattle so I declined and asked for that portion of my meal to be taken off my bill. The owner came over and apologized for the error and said it was due to the earlier food mix up. She felt so bad. She took my entire meal off of the bill and gave me a coupon for next time we are in town. She talked to us for awhile and was very kind and caring. So, even with the issues I'm giving it a 5 star rating because the owner was quick to apologize and make it right. The food was fresh and tasted great. They have the start of a gem of a place! Give them a try - you'll be...
Read moreWe stopped at Benes today and we will probably come back. Pros: food came hot and fast. I had the bacon waffle, my husband had the CFS Benedict, and my son had the chicken strip and fries. The waffle was wonderful, the over medium egg I ordered was cooked perfectly, my husband said the sausage gravy was very good, and my son’s chicken strip was bigger than I expected, juicy and fried to perfection.
Cons: the OJ is “fresh squeezed” but they don’t strain it. There are seeds, huge chunks of orange, and fibrous sections. At $6.75 a glass, I wasn’t happy. I ordered some for my three year old, and it’s a choking hazard. Maximum price for minimal effort. I’ve worked in the industry and I’d never serve OJ like that to anyone, not even at my home. Lazy.
The waitress never refilled my coffee despite putting my empty cup obviously at the edge of the table. We ordered OJ for my son and husband but they brought OJ and milk so we had to ask for it again. My husband ordered his Benedict without the poached egg but they brought it out with the egg anyway. She scooped it off and brought a side of gravy to make up for what was stuck to the egg.
We learned they had a rough morning with a bunch of rude and rowdy college students that morning so I know they were having a rough day when it comes to service. They also gave my husband a military discount just because he mentioned his service in conversation.
We think they definitely deserve a second chance and would recommend giving them a try if you’re in town or want to take a...
Read moreI read the reviews before I came here and decided to try it out anyway and honestly I don't understand why they have anything short of 5 stars. The service was superb! First I was greeted within seconds of arriving even though it was a full house and I was expecting a high wait, they gave me a 15 min wait time and were just under that. Second my server was Matti not only was she polite and attentive to all my needs, she checked on me every time she even saw me look her way maybe thinking I had a request. She was absolutely amazing and what I look for when I'm being served. Next my mimosas I ordered... oragasm lol they have freshly squeezed orange juice !!! With obviously the champagne added but the fresh orange juice makes it so much better. I ordered a grilled cheese with pesto and tomato inside on sour dough bread and it was perfect and the perfect size. It came with a small bowl of chicken tortilla soup which had the the right amount of spice. They atmosphere is loud but it's a small space that feels home and they do a great job at making the best of it by leaning closer to you to hear your order or just speaking louder with an beat and enthusiastic voice. If I could give them more stars I would but I will definitely be back to try more things on the menu. Truly...
