Happened to land in front of Asad's Hot Chicken on my way home from Philadelphia and I am seriously shocked that the reviews for this place are so high! I had what may have been the worst lunch in the last decade and I have traveled all over the country for my career allowing me to try some really solid food.
Hear me out. Recently I've been eating at Dave's hot chicken as it's close to me. I've eaten there maybe 7 or 8 times, mostly in their Neptune location but also at two other northern New Jersey locations. I love it. But as the spice starts to hit, I always find myself reading on Reddit of other places to try and Asad's always comes up. People say the prices are better and spice levels are more consistent than Dave's amongst locations/multiple trips. What I'm trying to say is consistency amongst hot chicken is tough to replicate and I've seen it with Dave's first hand in those visits, I've read Asad's is better.
Back to the good stuff. So I order 3 tenders- 1 hot and 2 extra hot. Pricing was definitely lower than Dave's but I guess you get what you pay for. Asad's chicken was much thinner and the heat was so weak! I was so disappointed. Their coleslaw isn't even close to home made and their 2oz soufflé cups were maybe half full each with their sauce. Dave's come back sauce is light years better than theirs and they are always full.
The worst part- Asad's uses probably the cheapest most flimsy cutlery I've ever seen. Trust me, I'm in the plastics industry and have sold foodservice disposables my entire life. The fork literally bent in half when sticking it into the tender to cut it. Horrible thin cutlery. Their napkins (which are important when eating hot chicken) are more like bar napkins than regular lunch or dinner napkins. Everything at this location was behind the counter too which is a pain to have to ask someone for when you need a knife or napkins. A table across from me was complaining about the metal chairs being uneven and I'll add the decor feels lackluster.
Anyway if you made it this far, I guess I'll sum it up by reiterating- you get what you pay for. This place is like Dave's if dave went bankrupt and was cutting costs. I'm still mind blown that the reviews here are so high... and I'm not against this spot for any reason, just...

If you're anywhere within driving distance of Cherry Hill and you haven’t been to Asad’s Hot Chicken yet — let me say this loud and clear: you’re missing out on the best halal hot chicken on the East Coast. And I'm not just hyping it up — I had it twice in one day. That’s not hunger... that’s love.
My wife, daughter, and I decided to try it out as a family, and from the moment we walked in, we were greeted not just with smiles — but with Salam. As a Muslim family, that hit different. We instantly felt respected, welcomed, and at ease. That kind of hospitality can’t be faked — it's genuine, and it's rare.
The food? Next level. 🔥 The hot chicken is so good it deserves its own Eid. 🔥 Crispy, juicy, flavorful — it’s seasoned with soul and cooked with care. 🔥 The fries? Fire. The pickles? Slap. The sandwich? A whole experience. 🔥 The portions? Generous. The vibes? Immaculate.
My wife (a spice connoisseur) said it had the perfect kick — not overwhelming, just right. My daughter devoured her meal and asked when we could come back — not “if,” but “when.” That says everything.
I wasn’t even hungry the second time I pulled up. I just hustled hard that day, and something said, You earned this. And Asad’s delivered again. Consistent quality, fast service, and clean, family-friendly energy. This place checks every box — and then some.
Why this review should blow up their business 100%: ✅ Halal? Yes. ✅ Flavor-packed? Absolutely. ✅ Muslim-friendly? Undeniably. ✅ Family-approved? 3 for 3 in our household. ✅ Worth a second trip the same day? Without a doubt. ✅ Word of mouth that turns into repeat customers? You're looking at it.
If you’re reading this, stop scrolling. Bookmark this spot. Pull up. Support a Muslim-owned business that’s doing everything right — and taste why Asad’s Hot Chicken is about to become your new obsession.

Read moreIt’s rare that my family throws away food. Today other than a couple bites of the chicken, it went into the trash bin.
The breading used on this chicken is terrible. It reminds me of those frozen bags of chicken strips you would find that have been out all day at the buffet of an old not dated hot and ready food section of a grocery store. I would not be surprised to find out these chickens are just from a frozen bags, already breaded and just recooked at this location.
The chicken had no flavor, I had one mild and one hot. The mild one might as well have been “plain” cause I didn’t see any sort of flavor on it. The hot one was better but still lacked flavor. It was mostly just spicy heat without the good spice flavors that come with it.
The fries were at best mediocre. I wouldn’t say they were particularly pleasant to eat and the cook on them was very uneven. Some were over cooked and too crispy and others were undercooked. Again it made me think of the bags of frozen fries you get at Walmart.
I don’t understand the positive praise this place gets, maybe other locations are better. I’ll never be returning because at 12+ dollars a person, I want something worth finishing.
This might just be the worst place I...
