Please think twice before booking an event here. This was my experience. I attended my nephew's bar mitzvah at this venue. The food was tasty albeit very skimpy. For example my sister had contracted for pita bread and hummus and a cheese plate but all I saw on the buffet were some limp vegetables and two salads in vinagraitte. It is possible that the food rations out but given that there were only 49 people and 5 didn't show up, that seems doubtful. In addition while I was dancing during the salad course, my salad was simply removed from the table even though the entre had not yet been served - something that's never happened to me at other events.
The upstairs room where the party was held was nicely decorated with bright red table cloths as agreed for a Coca Cola theme. But apparently, the tablecloths that were originally put out were black and my sister had to argue with the owner to get it changed. In addition, entrance and stairway to the Elance venue are quite shabby and the signage for the parking lot and entrance are very poor.
So while the venue was acceptable, the customer service provided by the owner of this venue was absolutely appalling and sadly left a bad taste in what should have been a joyful event. As mentioned, the owner failed to supply the red table cloths until my sister insisted. In addition, my sister had contracted for the facility from 11-4:30. Around 3:45, the cake and skimpy ice cream buffet - which had been open about 20 minutes was shut down. (By the way, the ice cream was riddled with ice crystals and tasted stale).
At 4 pm, the DJs packed up as planned and so I went over to my table hoping to enjoy some cake. As I reached for some of the petit fours, the platter was snatched away from under my fingers by the clean up crew and I realized that the place was shutting down. I was surprised that the party was over since my sister had said that it would last until 4:30 and I'd spent time in the dance floor figuring that I could eat and socialize with relatives later. But once the clean up crew had cleared the tables and brought out the brooms - around 4:05, everyone was shooed out. My nephew's seven 13 year old friends who needed to be picked up and several guests who were waiting for Uber had to wait in their dress clothes on the dirty sidewalk on a busy street. Also because if the confusion and rush, several children did not receive their goody bags.
I asked the staff if I could speak to the owner to share my experience. She eventually came out and I told her that my sister had a contract for the venue until 4:30 and that I was disappointed and disturbed that everything was cleaned up a half hour early and that I wasn't even able to enjoy the desserts that my sister had paid for. Significantly, the owner did not deny that the contract went until 4:30. Instead, she said that shutting down at 4 should not be a big deal since the DJ had left. I responded that people had expected to stay - indeed I had expected to spend time with them and none of the kids had been picked up - and by kicking us out a half hour early, I was denied this opportunity. The owner then said that because I was a lawyer, I could bring an action and her lawyers would respond. I replied that although this was a braech of contract plain and simple, it is the kind of thing that should be resolved by good customer service. I proposed that she refund a portion of the cost to my sister to make things right - though to be honest, even a sincere apology Would have been a start.
So would I recommend E Lounge? Yes - if you want to host a party at an average venue that skimps at every opportunity and deal with a rude owner who refuses to respect customers and simply ignores the terms of a contract. If this isn't the kind of experience that you want for your special event (and who in their right mind would?), then you may want to go elsewhere.
All of what I've written here is my opinion based on my experience at this venue...
Read moreIf I could give this venue a zero I would. The venue is beautiful however the service is horrific. My sister had to cancel less than two months before her wedding because Ellen was forgetting appointments. Forgetting the services orders such as catering. They got more furniture 2 months before her wedding which made her now not have space for the tables in her reception but she was told she would have to pay for them to remove the new lounge furniture the day of her wedding inspire the fact it wasn't there at the signing of the contract. She would otherwise have to work around it if she didn't pay them. She was told she would have to pay more for them to open the door the day of the reception for us to decorate. No bride wants to be so stressed but she had no faith that they would not ruin her special day based off the service they provided. She was lucky to find another venue so close to her day but was unable to get a refund inspite their carelessness. Compared to these other reviews I see I wonder why my sister was treated so...
