I HAVE BEEN COMING TO MING GARDEN FOR WELL OVER 20 YEARS. THIS WAS ALWAYS MY GO TO FOR CHINESE, EVEN WHEN I LIVED IN BLACKWOOD. BUT EVER SINCE THE PREVIOUS OWNERS LEFT AND THE "NEW TENANTS" TOOK OVER, WHICH I BELIEVE ALL THE REGULARS WERE TOLD THEY WERE RELATED, THE FOOD IS NOT GOOD! I HAVE GIVEN THIS PLACE THE BEFEFIT OF THE DOUBT AND ORDERED AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES, SINCE THE "NEW STAFF" BUT EVERY TIME IS ALWAYS THE SAME THING EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT. THE FOOD IS BLAND, THE FOOD NEARLY ALL TASTES THE SAME, THE CHICKEN WINGS, ONCE ONE OF THE BEST PLACES FOR THIS SIMPLE ITEM, IS SERVED GREASY AND CERTAINLY NOT THE ITEM THE PREVIOUS OWNERS USED. IN FACT THE LAST TIME, "THEY WERE UNDERCOOKED." THERE ARE PLENTY OF ITEMS TO TALK ABOUT BUT NOTHING MORE THEN, MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE FROM HERE FOR YEARS, "THE BONELSS RIBS AND HONEY", ITS A PORK BELLY DISH, NORMALLY CUT THICK AND PUT UNDER THE FIRE FOR A NICE CHAR, WHILE BEING DRENCHED IN A STICKY HORSIN BASED SAUCE AND THEN FINISHED WITH HONEY, WHICH WOULD LIQUIFY IN THE PLATE GIVING IT A JUICY, TENDER, FUN TO EAT, ENJOYABLE FOOD. YEA, NOT QUITE THE SAME HERE, FOR THE THIN PORK LIKE RIB DISH COVERED IN A GENERIC CHINESE AY-HO BBQ SAUCE. DRY, MEALY, TOUGH, A DEFINITELY AN UNPLEASANT DISH. WHICH WOULD LEAD ME TO MY LAST POINT, THE PEOPLE THAT RUN IT, RENT IT, OR WHATEVER THERE DOING THERE, ARE MEAN, NASTY, UNPLEASENT PEOPLE, "GET OFF OF YOUR PHONE WHEN IM IN FRONT OF YOU ORDERING". THEY MAY AS WELL THROW THE FOOD AT YOU, WHILE ASKING YOU TO OVER PAY FOR IT. THE FOOD IS BEST KEPT IN THE KITCHEN FOR EXAMPLES OF WHAT NOT TOP SERVE PEOPLE! IM GOING TO CHEF CHUNS IN WASHINGTON TWP. THAT PLACE IS INCREDIBLE AND WORTH MY DRIVE FROM...
Read moreI've been eating at Ming Gardens since before they moved over 25 years ago from the strip shopping center on Route 70 where Cordivari's Farm Market was located, and stayed loyal after they had a fire 6-7 years ago. I have always noted excellent kitchen and dining room cleanliness, and enjoyed good service & great food, whether carry-out or dine-in.
This last time, with my mother, I noticed they had all-new people; and reading through the reviews, they changed hands. Normally, I'm leery of new restaurant ownership, but I noticed the kitchen was still clean, so we decided to sit down. In the past, all the tables were clean; but this time, two were left dirty.
Service was slow. My mother ordered the Sweet & Sour chicken, which normally would have pineapple chunks and the sauce mixed in. This time, it was plain chicken nuggets that looked like frozen Costco, with a couple pineapple chunks in a bowl of sauce which came right out of a bottle -- A definite drop in food quality.
My Roast Pork with Chinese Vegetables, which before were flavorful and tasty; but this time was bland, with a totally bland, unseasoned "sauce."
I was all set to give them a 2-star rating because at least the kitchen was clean; but several hours later, I got food poisoning, hence me docking a star.
It's really sad to see a real favorite for over two decades fall so...
Read morePlaced an online order. General Tso with vegetable fried rice. When you select the entree a drop down menu allows you to select what rice you want with it. I chose vegetable fried rice without mushrooms. Driving there and home I realize they piled pork chunks into the rice. I do not eat pork! I drove all the way back and asked for a refund. Rather than do the right thing and refund my $ a woman yelled and put her hands in my face. She stated that I was the one who made the mistake as the platter comes with pork fried rice. Though that is how it comes standard, I changed the option. Holding onto her pride and my money meant more than righting the mistake with the customer. She was yelling saying it was I who made a mistake but they didn’t put the mushrooms in the rice so I know that it was for me and she said there was another box in there (white rice) that was veggie fried rice. If they had given me a veggie rice in ADDITION to the pork rice why didn’t they charge me for it then as miserly as they clutched to my refund I know they didn’t give away anything out of the kindness of their heart. The yelling and total disregard for a customer I left without food or my $. They can have both. Guess they need it...
