We left there today at 5:30pm and debated on if I should even say anything because I dont want to be a "Karen" but I do have some complaints.
My fiance and I came in a little before 5pm and were seated immediately which was excellent for a Saturday. However, we felt very rushed to get in and out. Our server was very nice and polite, no issue with her but I didn't get her name. Upon being seated we were quickly greeted by our server and we ordered upon her arrival as we have been coming here at this location for many years and we knew what we wanted to eat.
We ordered the OVEN-FIRED SPINACH & ARTICHOKE DIP for an appetizer, however we did not get time to enjoy it as our dinner came within a minute later. I ordered the WINE COUNTRY salad as a half salad, with the KICKIN’ CORN & CRAB CHOWDER soup. My salad did not have dressing, the grapes came whole (I think they are supposed to be cut in half?) and my soup was cold. The server quickly corrected the dressing and soup, but it just seemed like the kitchen was more concerned with getting the food out to the table without care or regard to it being correct. It just made us feel very rushed. (My fiance I do believe ordered the SHRIMP SCAMPI CAVATTAPI and his order was fine.)
Also, I did order a cocktail, but I don't recall the name of it, it did have the ghost pepper vodka in it, it was a pineapple something... It did take some time before the drink finally came to the table which isn't the servers fault but was just another inconvenience, and the bar area was somewhat empty...
In addition, it would be a good idea that you guys be more consistent with whether or not you ask for identification, as there have been times I have sat at the bar area and never have been asked for my ID, however our server did ask today for it and it's a good thing I brought it with me, as today I didn't drive. However I know I do not look like a teenager, I am 41 and my fiance is 51.
Sorry to be a complainer but today was just not a good experience at all. I tried to send a message through your website privately, but it seems as there is a bug in the system, as it kept giving me a message of "incorrect validation code," which there is no place for a code?
No I don't have a receipt and we paid cash. I don't know the servers name but she had her hair in two braids tonight.
Thank you and have a great...
Read moreService came with a friendly attitude, however she wasn't very attentive. Ordered the chicken and waffles with "maple" syrup...the syrup wasn't maple... tasted like a hybrid, high fructose corn with a dabble of maple. Very Sysco tasting. Waffle was slightly bitter, chicken batter was nice and crispy but over cooked and dry. My sister ordered the Mediterranean omelette breakfast, with a waffle that came with whipped cream and strawberries. She also stated the waffle tasted weird. The strawberries were very tart and not at all sweet. Whipped cream was "fake" tasted as if it came out of a can or bag. The hash brown potatoes were also not prepared in house.... Overall nothing was freshly prepared, your typical run of the mill frozen food truck prepared in a kitchen. Would not come back nor recommend eating breakfast here unfortunately. The inside is cozy and welcoming though. And the manager did come out right away to inquire on why I sent my chicken and waffles back. He seemed genuine, I did order something more simpler such as two eggs SOFTLY scrambled with shredded cheddar cheese and a side of crispy bacon and unfortunately that too was cooked to the point of being borderline burnt and the eggs were not soft scrambled, which I also elucidate to the server to wanting my egg's softly scrambled. All in all the food tasted like it came from Sysco and was cooked by someone not familiar with a kitchen and a waitress who is not familiar with serving. I.e: took order, served order came back once and asked if we needed a refill and...
Read moreEverything was amazing about our experience! Our cocktails were as tasty as they were unique. Since it was our first time, we were given the tomato and cheese soup to taste with some homemade chips. Oh my, hands down, the best tomato soup I've ever had! We almost ordered that for an appetizer because we wanted more than a sample, but we also wanted to try the spinach and artichoke dip with pita chips. We've had a lot of that dip in several places in Virginia and North Carolina, and Baker's Crust won first place again on this one. For our dinner, we shared the steak & chimichurri Neopolitan style pizza. I love gorgonzola cheese, and it's nice to see that on my pizza with mozzarella, too, of course. There could have been a little bit more steak on the pizza, but other than that, perfection. Believe it or not, we got desserts. I thought we'd take a bite and have them wrap the rest up, but we actually finished them. My fiancé usually offers me a bite or two of whatever he has, and this time, he didn't, which means he was loving his Jamaican Crepe. I can't blame him; it had rum & brown sugar flambéed bananas, toasted coconut, vanilla bean ice cream, and was topped with chocolate topping. I didn't mind because I enjoyed my heaven-sent bread pudding, drizzled with crème anglaise and the best caramel sauce! Overall, it was a great afternoon/early evening at Baker's Crust, thanks to our wait...
