This store has gone through so many managers that it’s honestly ridiculous. At this point, I have to wonder if the constant turnover is due to the higher-ups, because it seems like every time a good manager comes in, they don’t last long. The employees are okay, but the overall atmosphere has definitely gone downhill.
A few months ago, there were two managers, Christina and Maddy, who truly made the store a pleasant place to visit. They always greeted customers with a smile, engaged in conversation, and created a welcoming environment. Ever since they left, the vibe of the store has completely changed. Now, most of the employees give dry responses and seem uninterested, and in some cases, they’re outright rude.
Whoever is running the store now is doing a terrible job. The quality of drinks has noticeably declined, and it’s clear that proper training is lacking. I had a particularly bad experience recently when I encountered Pamela, the regional manager. Her attitude was awful—not only towards me but also toward the employees. She clearly didn’t know how to make drinks properly, and the way she spoke to the staff was unacceptable. It’s a wonder they’re still working there under that kind of treatment.
To make matters worse, my order was completely wrong. I had asked for a macchiato, but what I received was just a latte with regular milk instead of the oat milk I had requested. When I politely asked for it to be remade, I was told that I’d have to pay again. That is just poor customer service.
That being said, I do want to acknowledge the night-time employees, who are amazing. They are the only ones keeping this place running smoothly and maintaining a friendly attitude.

Read moreVisiting from Boston, close to where DD originated (and where there’s one practically every other block), and the food at this location was so surprisingly good that I had to write this review. The glazed donut and sausage wake-up wrap both tasted really fresh, which I’ve never experienced at a DD before—the locals I was with agreed, too. We ordered in-store around 9 AM on a Tuesday and our iced coffee and less-sugar iced shaken espresso were prepared quickly. The two wraps took a bit longer, maybe because there were only 3 people manning the store+drive-through—but these oozy-cheese breakfast wraps were worth the short wait (still out of the store within 10 minutes). The register/drink service was friendly, too!
Docked two stars for atmosphere because sweeping supplies were leaning against the food/drink pickup counter. It didn’t contaminate the food but dusty/dirty things anywhere near food service areas gives me the ick. Anyway, putting cleaning supplies out of sight before customers arrive is an easy fix.
Edit: Checked out the other reviews and am surprised to see so many bad ones! The employees are the rudest around. Always giving you an attitude or not even addressing that you are in the store or at the window. Today when I walked in the only thing that was said to me was that I need a mask and then I informed them that I did not have one and then Asia, one of the employees who has always been rudest employee there, straight up ignored me and walked away. While I had still not even been asked why I was there. I stood there being ignored by her and another female employee then finally someone came to ask what was wrong and I told them the name for my mobile which he ignored and continued to yell at me again for not having a mask which I was so annoyed I said I wasn’t leaving until I got my food since there are no signs in the store, no mandate in va or they were not providing them.
