Centerville Turnpike Bridge — Local services in Chesapeake

Would give 0 stars if possible. This bridge has the WORST operator. It opens at the worst times- when trying to get to work and when trying to get home. One little boat will pull up during rush hour and holds up 200 + cars from reaching their destinations. It’s not just me being inconvienced daily by it. I’m stopped by it closing more times than Im not. 4/5 days of my work week I’m stopped by it on my way home. It is ridiculous. Then by the time traffic it caused clears up, it’s time for it to open for another little boat again. especially with north landing bridge being closed currently, it’s even worse. I’m outraged as many other people are. I’m bringing it up to the city.

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone took this into their own hands. DO NOT CLOSE BRIDGE DURING RUSH HOURS NO MATTER HOW MANT...

This two lane bridge was recently rebuilt to exactly the same capacity that it had previously with no apparent improvement in service. It still breaks down frequently and is grossly undersized for the current traffic load. The draw bridge opens every hour and long delays are common. A much needed alternate route was canceled with no further plans that I am aware of. This bridge and the entire route must be dealt with soon to prevent...

This bridge is great if you need to cross over the waterway and don't want to swim across the water. The rotating design is a genius way to quickly open the waterway to vessels. A high rise bridge would have less moving parts and allow for more accessible traffic flows for vehicles and vessels simultaneously. I am happy to take the bridge without having to pay a toll.
