GOLDEN STAR — Restaurant in Chesapeake

As a self proclaimed foodie, I will leave an honest and unbiased review for this company.

I’ll start with the environment. There’s nothing warm or inviting about this establishment. It felt as if they were agitated by our presence. The total we were quoted didn’t match the prices on the menu, so I pulled out my calculator and incorporated tax but still didn’t get her figure. She then started up charging items to make up for the difference in her price and the total I calculated.

When we first walked in, there was a guy siting at the front counter who obviously had cleanliness issues. He scratched his head the entire time we were in the restaurant looking at the menu, through the ordering, and while we were waiting. He took the cap he must’ve taken off and banged it on the counter a couple times as if to shake it free of whatever. It was so bad I told my husband “he’s gonna have to wash his hands if he goes to cook our food”.

Would you believe he got up, went to the back and instantly started working on our food. I called him back to the front and asked him to wash his hands. He was infuriated! His skin went flush and started changing colors. He looked at me and said “ He’s working with hot food so he doesn’t need to wash his hands”.

Now the entire restaurant is looking at us watching them fix our food, because by now they’ve loss our trust. We really didn’t feel comfortable enough to not watch them working with our food after he spazzed out.

We had the pu pu platter and Bourbon Chicken . This restaurant ranks a 5. The egg rolls and chicken wings were good. The Bourbon Chicken had a gravy to them instead of a sauce. It was gross and went to waste. We wasted $50 with this restaurant. I would suggest you find someplace more welcoming, honest and clean to...

I ordered from their call service. General Tso chicken And soup for my sick wife. After I picked up the food and went home, which was A 15 to 20 minute drive. I checked the food to find out that I was given Hunan chicken instead of the general Tao as requested. I called back the number that was listed and spoke for over 35 minutes between being put on hold and being deflected away from an answer. Which included them stating that they record all their conversations and that I’d ordered the wrong thing and it was not their fault. When I asked them to play the recording, they could not, they would not offer a refund or offer to deliver the correct item to my house. They would only offer if I drove back to them that evening and swapped out the food they would give me the general Tso in place if I brought back the Hunan chicken. Would not admit their mistake nor would they work any other options with me. I’ve been going to this restaurants for years. I’ve never had this issue with the people at the restaurant. This appears now that they’ve switched over to some other company and they do not want to do business with people they want to lie to them and take advantage of them. I would not go there again. They’ve lost a long time. Customer who’s been a lot of money there over the years. I would’ve given them a zero if they I could’ve for the way the situation was handled, but you can only put one star, but I do want to warn people in the future of what they try to do if they pull a bait and switch on you and lie to you about illegally recording you. Disgusting! DO NOT BUY FOOD FROM THERE! Yesterday I brought the sesame chicken and the 3-4 pieces of broccoli in the entire dish wasn’t cooked and taste like it wasn’t even clean. The Brown gravy or whatever it is that they call it that they make the sesame chicken with was too sweet and had a funny smell and taste to it. The actual chicken was OK but because the broccoli and gravy was so disgusted that just destroyed the whole meal. Oh did I forget to mention that the rice was dry and sticky.

I’ve eaten there quite a few times because I’m not one to try different restaurants. Once I find one that I like, I tend to go there quite often. I will give them this, they make very good shrimp and broccoli and they house special Chow Mei Fun or Pancit noodles are pretty good. That’s primarily what I’ve always brought from them. Other than that, I’ve tried a couple of other dishes and they were/are disgusting. Even their fried rice and chicken wings isn’t good! How can they mess that up???

I will find a new Chinese restaurant now because not only are the majority of their dishes not good but I’m not even quite sure if it’s safe...
